I wonder what the means? 24 pages? Less? This was also interesting:
"There is also a whole chapter devoted to cosmology in D&D, making it easier than ever to reference and incorporate the multiverse into your campaigns."

Me too. I wasn't expecting a whole chapter, but I guess a chapter can be short too. The "Creating a Multiverse" chapter, which I think this will be similar too, in the 2014 DMG was 26 pagesI wonder what the means? 24 pages? Less?
See, I was too lazy to go and turn around and look, thanks!Me too. I wasn't expecting a whole chapter, but I guess a chapter can be short too. The "Creating a Multiverse" chapter, which I think this will be similar too, in the 2014 DMG was 26 pages
Yeah, had the same thought (no pun intended). It honestly sounds a little video gamey to me. I really like the concept of Bastions/Strongholds, but question the implementation. Will reserve judgment until I can read the actual mechanics on how it works.![]()
My Wizard telling my Bastion to plant more wheat before we assault the goblins.
Art, some details about fhe Adventure and Setting stuff.I mean, WotC has given away many of the rules for free. What else do they have to market?
It wouldn't surprise me if monster creation rules are now in the Monster Manual. They seem to be taking a much more focused approach to each book this time around.None of their discussion about the 2024 DMG has included optional rules. That has concerned me for awhile. I don't see anything about creating monsters or spells either! This has had me very concerned.
However, I am now hopeful that this means there will be a DM centered 4th book that covers just optional rules, variants, monster creation, magic item creation, spell creation, etc.
EDIT: There is a DMs Toolkit chapter in the 2024 DMG with these types of rules presumably. So not UA style book for 5e24 it looks.![]()
This (esp. the bolded bit) seems mostly to correspond to chapter 9 in the 2014 DMG (which is where many optional rules are). I have not seen clear indications that there's something corresponding to ch 4 (making NPCs), which I would expect. It's a short chapter in 2014, but an important one.@Micah Sweet I feel better now. From the article:
As much as the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide contains tutorials on how D&D is actually played, it also contains tons of ways to add to your game, like the DM's Toolkit chapter. This section covers the building blocks for your game. You can now easily find information about anything from alignment to traps, reorganized into alphabetical order to make them easy to look up. Need to create a background, creature, magic item, or spell to fit your story? This chapter walks you through the process. Just TPK'd your party? You'll find advice on how to handle the situation here.
Having the IP there is a good thing, yes. Making it the most important part of the book? That might be true, but it's a good thing. No one needs to use D&D's IP for their home games, but they can use it for inspiration. And many might want to use it, without having to do a Wiki-dive. It's also a good thing for the health and future of the game, from a business standpoint, that isn't just milking the TTRPG for more cash.
