(OOC) Scourge of Daggerford (Full)

@FitzTheRuke i think it’s unanimous that we are resting in the same building as the fight with the Wizard. Blaze is in the barracks room and the door leading outside is arcane locked. (If I’m remembering the map correctly)
I assume you mean the stables? They have a stable, and we might as well use it. Though, Titus is happy to ride for Zundbridge right now (so he can make it before dark). He doesn't need to take the Rod with him to speak to Ashfell about it.

Morgan will use a ritual to cast alarm on the door (as an audible ring) and then ID the rod.
Sounds good.

The Rod of Cruor
The Rod of Cruor is a +2 Arcane Implement. It spent decades collecting blood under a sacrificial altar.
It has 18 charges. Charges can be replenished by draining a creature's blood. Tiny = no charges, Small = 1 charge, Medium = 2 charges, etc.

The charges can be spent on the following:
1) Poison Spray. 0 Charges: You spray toxic blood at a creature within 30ft. Make a ranged spell Attack for 2d12 Poison damage.
2) Crimson Spray. 1 Charge: You launch a disgusting eruption of blood. Each creature in a 15ft Cone originating from you must make a dc15 CON Save or be Blinded until the end of your next turn.
3) Summon Putrid Undead. 3 Charges: An Undead creature made of animated blood manifests in an unoccupied space you can see within 90ft & disappears when it drops to 0 HP or in 1 hour (Concentration). It acts as an ally on your Initiative & takes its turn after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action & moves to avoid danger.

Putrid Undead. Medium NE Undead.
AC 15. HP: 40
Spd:30ft.
STR 12 (+1) DEX 16 (+3) CON 15 (+2) INT 4 (-3) WIS 10 (+0) CHA 9 (-1)
Immune: Necrotic, Poison; Exhaustion, Frightened, Paralyzed, Poisoned.
PP10, Darkvision 60ft. Languages: Understands you.
Traits: Festering Aura. Each creature that starts their turn within a 5ft of the undead must make a dc16 CON Save or be Poisoned until the start of their next turn.
Actions: Rotting Claw. 2 Attacks. 5ft Melee Attack: 1d20+6 for 1d6+9 Slashing & if they are Poisoned, they are also Paralyzed until the end of their next turn.

Hey! The AI art program has been pretty censored lately (to the point of silliness) but it got this one for me:

If asked, Tommi will suggest emptying the rod of charges (Crimson spraying at no discernable target) and then breaking the rod, or burying it under a big rock.

What!? You're not going to use it to summon my ugly buddy up there? Shame.

(I'm kidding - mostly - it's pretty awful!)

Using up the charges is a good idea but I’m not sure what Morgan wants to do. I guess he’d just do it. It’s only blood after all.

What is an arcane focus +2? Does that mean it increase spell attacks and saves?

Any info on the journal?

Yes, that's right.

Theggar's journal? I think you'd find it's doubly-hard to read: It's in a Thayan Cypher. You can use Tongues or something to translate the Thayan, but I'm not sure if you can easily figure out the cypher. Did we go over it before? (I can never remember).

Yeah, you asked me to make an Int check and I rolled higher than 20. I’ll find the post if I can. But Morgan can’t speak Thayan, so there’s that.

The cypher that the Red Wizard had used to write his diary was an interesting puzzle to Morgan - symbols, numbers, letters, and runes seemingly written at random.

OOC: An Intelligence check is required, and it will take some time to figure it out.

“Yeah. I should be able to decipher it but I think it will take a while. I’d like to bring it back to Delphen in Daggerford.
