D&D General Let's celebrate D&D having things we don't like! (+)

D&D is the game for everyone, so there's something for everyone!

That means they'll be things we don't like, but that's a good thing we should celebrate!

So let's have a topic where we praise the things we personally don't like about D&D!

I'll start. I hate the fact WOTC doesn't purge the weak from D&D but that's good. They can play D&D and not wreck the cool game I'm trying to play.

I DO NOT like cutesy in my fantasy. It doesn't have to be all mud and blood all the time, but when it's not I still want it "serious" -- at least in art direction and general tone.

BUT -- the fact that 5E has evolved to embrace style and tone that is in line with the cultural influences of the15 to 25 year olds discovering it is an unqualified good thing. My kids are that age and I recognize the cartoons, shows, movies and books that flavor 5E.

I might dislike it, but WotC knows what they are doing at least in terms of attracting new players to the game. I mean, they should, they have been doing it for nearly 30 years (in case you suddenly wanted to feelold).

Besides, if I want modern anti-cutesy D&D, I'll just fire up Baldur's Gate 3.

What I very much did not like about D&D is how much of it in the past decade went to - see this forums rules for list of banned words from that culture. Has all that ended yet?
