Based on a little unverified googling, it's a 45" screen (rear projection, apparently) weighing 359 lbs. It cost $2800 in 1978 (without vcr, if i understand correctly), or nearly $13,000 in 2022 dollars.

My parents just bought a 50" smart tv for under $300 last weekend.

Yeah, I tried to explain why the costs are so low on those, but it's hard to argue with the low prices. I haven't looked for a dumb TV recently, but I get the impression they're mostly extinct now, anyway.

I think the closest you can get is to purchase a "smart" TV and just not hook it to your home network. I gather they're working on closing that loophole.

Fun fact: In my youth I once decided to snort Pixie Stix because it seemed like a really wild and crazy idea and none of my friends was brave enough to do it.

It was definitely not one of my wiser decisions. But it is one of my more entertaining stories.

Many years ago I was out eating when, in the middle of drinking some Mr. Pibbs, I got a hiccup. This proceeded to pull the fluid up into my nasal passages (and then promptly eject it). I've characterized it that for several moments I could probably have been successfully murdered by a small child with a rock, I was so thoroughly disabled.
