My paternal grandparents had an entertainment center consisting of a TV (CRT* tech), record player and speakers in a piece of wooden furniture akin to a sideboard. I never had to move it, but it was doubtlessly similarly massive.GE Giant Screen TV with integrated VCR from 1978.

Since it's a smart TV, a lot of that is subsidized by selling their data.My parents just bought a 50" smart tv for under $300 last weekend.

Sounds about right. It took 4 of us to move one, from one side of the basement to the other, without risk of dropping it. Two would have done, but with a lot of straining and if we'd dropped it, well.... That wouldn't have been good.Based on a little unverified googling, it's a 45" screen (rear projection, apparently) weighing 359 lbs. It cost $2800 in 1978 (without vcr, if i understand correctly), or nearly $13,000 in 2022 dollars.
