I sing pretty damn well, but I generally avoid karaoke nights. Forget my own issues with introversion, I just hate (usually drunken) people butchering songs I love. The one karaoke night I remember enjoying was in Austin, back in the 1990s. Because it’s a major music business hub, there’s a lot of pro-level vocalists just everywhere, and a considerable number do karaoke.

Yeah, I get that. I fell into a joint that is the right amount of serious effort, but not too serious that folks can still have a good time.

Also, I gotta meet women somehow and lord knows I ain’t doing it on apps.

This is me too. I probably cringe too easily, at a great many things, but karaoke is just not fun for me except when the other performers are at a level well beyond mine.

Went to the local Greek Festival at the neighborhood Greek Orthodox Church, and had the baklava. It's really good. But now I have to consider which I think is better, the baklava at the Festival, or the baklava you can get every week at our favorite diner, which is also fantastic.

It's nice to live in an area with an embarrassment of ethnic food options...
