Best Current RPG Artist?

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law

She did the cover for an anthology in which I had a short story published.

Brom baby, Brom!

i haved loved broms work since it worst crept in like a chittering beast of nightmares as THE vision of the dark sun world.

his paintings convey a lot of emotion. they have a lot behind them. the layered effects he offers with his paint is simply amazing.

i love his work so much that three years ago i had his 'lone wolf' image tattooed on my calf. only hr giger would get that sort of reverence from me.

Lesse ...

If I had to name who I like it'd take too long! It'd probably be easier if I list a few I don't like, but I'd just offend people. So here I go:

Tony D-- His women are REAL! Hips! Breasts that are shaped the proper way! My God! Why oh why did they take out his tiefling ..? She was hot ...
D. Alexander Gregory-- His Star Wars work makes me wish I didn't plan to be an artist so I don't ever have to compete with someone that good.
Rebecca Guay-- When someone wears her Classical roots on her sleeve I have to give her props.
Scott Fish-- I have seen his line work, and I am horribly envious.
Quinton Hoover (does he do rpg work or not?)-- I love Mucha, he loves Mucha (it's obvious), and if you don't love Mucha then shame on you.
Wayne Renalds-- It's great stuff. It's fun, it's dynamic, and it makes me think that maybe I have a chance of makin it in this industry.

Now, here's a couple I bet you don't know!

Durwin Talon-- Did a couple of pieces for d20 Modern and Adventure! for White Wolf. Great guy, beautiful stuff.
Jullie Collins-- Again, did some work for d20 Modern. Including the only pic of Moondog that made him look like more than a joke (in a tux).

Quinton Hoover (does he do rpg work or not?)

Yes. He was in Green Ronin's Jade Dragons and Hungry Ghosts, and I seem to remember something by him more recently. I think it might have even been a WotC product.

All applogies to my freinds at Nutkinland, but my favorite is Lockwood

He seems to spend the most time making it look real. Studies anatomy and etc, to create a convincing thing

I know I'm looking at a picture of a dragon and dragons arn't real, but I expect a good artist to show me the closest thing possible to a photo of a dragon

Todd Lockwood is my favorite current RPG artist. A lot of his pieces impress the hell outta me. From the dragons in the Monster Manual, to the illustration of elven chain in the 3.5e Dungeon Master's Guide, to the absolutely stunning cover artwork for The Thousand Orcs by R.A. Salvatore, I am a huge fan of Lockwood.

Larry Elmore is another one of my favorite RPG artists, since he's been doing artwork for fantasy novels and RPG books for a very long time. Even though I sometimes wish that he'd overcome his fixation with 1980s hairstyles. :D

Although he couldn't be called an RPG artist, though, my absolute favorite fantasy artist of all time is Frank Frazetta.
