OOC: 1) it is. Off to see if we can rescue more orcs/dwarves to the south.

Cordit nodded her still-shaggy ape head and mouthed "no problem!" to Bible. Tamanar looked grim, but he too, nodded his assent.

The elemental in the furnace was an imprisoned slave as well, like the others. It was difficult to know if it could be released, and what the results might be if it were. Dangerous, one way or the other, Tenibor felt, but possibly worth considering.

The fire giant had some objects of value on his person, but all were heavy and difficult to remove from his corpse (a gold bracelet on a heavy arm, a few gold teeth.)

OOC: Shall we move along, or anything anyone want to do here?

"Erm, Tenibor - could you control that elemental you said powers the forge? Could we, mayhaps, take it with us? If not, could we free the flame spirit from servitude so as to deny the giants access to it?"

With Tenibor's pronouncement, it seemed best to move on and leave the elemental imprisoned in its furnace, at least for now. After a quick search of the giants' rooms (in a nearby hallway between the forge and the torture chamber) where they found a sack of gems worth some four-hundred in gold, the growing group gathered at the T-junction in the south, where the orcs insisted that their kin (and the dwarves' as well) would be found, labouring to dig out a buried vault.

Directly to the south, along the wall, were two doors. According to the orcs, both led to a former crypt, that was being used as a barracks for the worker-slaves. Beyond it was the work area. To the east, the hallway sloped down into darkness, becoming increasingly strewn with rubble as it went.

OOC: Okay, here's where we're at, with some reminders because it's been so long:

Number Key: 1 & 2) Doors to slave pen; 3) Rubble-strewn hallway downward; 4) Doors to Forge; 5) Bugbear barracks; 6) Giants' rooms.
NPCs: Cordit (as Ape); Tamanar the Elf Knight; 5 Dwarves; 3 Orcs; 2 Human caravan Guards; Zandor the cowardly noble; Olwen a Commoner bricklayer.

"We were good opening the two rooms before. If these lead to the same place let's push through both doors - this way none can run and escape.

"Unless someone has something short they need to do first, I suggest we push forward posthaste."

Jack nodded at the giant-kin as he carefully packed the treasure. "Let's find these other prisoners to the south - and maybe another way out, too. I'll take the eastern door. Who's with me?"

Bible and Cordit joined Jack, with Valda, Tamanar, and Eoghan taking the western door. The others stood ready to join whichever side needed. The doors were swung wide, revealing a chamber that must once have been a crypt; now used to house workers for the excavation. Dirty, worn pallets were laid on the old stonework floor.

Overworked and filthy, two dwarves and four orcs rested under the guard of two half-ogres. The half-ogres reacted quickly at the sight of the interlopers, raising fat falchions in one hand, and short crop-whips in the other, while shouting to the resting workers to "stay down" and "behave or die".

The orc-shaped Eoghan calls out "Orcs, join you fellows in freedom! Overthrow the harsh masters. Dwarves, we are here to rescue you."

OOC: Using my action on Persuasion. If they come over to our side we're down to just the two half-ogres. Hopefully that there are other orcs with us will show we mean it.
Persuasion: 1D20+13 = [2]+13 = 15
EDIT: Misspelled my own name. Corrected.
