The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

Yeah, and it would get tiresome having to listen to 11 roleplayers kvetching the entire time about how the judge is railroading and how rules lawyers are ruining their fun.
The worst part is when the jury starts arguing in court about whether the whole trial should be resolved with roleplaying or if things couldn't be speeded up with a die roll so they can get to some action.

Heckling witnesses for having lousy Bluff skills is probably grounds for a mistrial too.

Warpiglet-7

Cry havoc! And let slip the pigs of war!
The reference went over my head, so I did some googling. So thats where all the discussion and debates over simulationalism, gamism, dramatism/narrativism comes from. For anyone else who is as ignorant as I am, the following is a good write up of the history of the Forge discussions and The Big Model: Remembering the Forge
I was annoyed by it when it came up, but I too lacked context.

Now I really hate it.

You know, I'd never really registered on how many buzzwords the Forge generated that are still in use (and misuse) today. I was mostly paying attention to minis gaming developments during the period where it was most active and barely noticed what was going on in RPG design beyond glancing at new releases as they hit store shelves.
