The giant fell - just one more soul for the Nameless Sheriff.

OOC: Yup. Done for. Whatchya wanna do next? Southward would lead to the dig site. Collect the freed prisoners and move upstairs?

Doc riffled through the giant's rucksacks. They were buggin' out, to be sure - there was food in each sack to fill a man for a month, though with its poor job of preserving, it wouldn't last that long. No matter - Doc figured that the giants would eat it in three or four days, tops. Aside from that, there were a smelly change of clothes, and buried deep, loot. Each giant had pilfered no small amount of gold, silver, plate, and various other valuables that had probably originated in raids, based on their being human-sized.

OOC: A total of about 500gp worth of various loot.

OOC: I agree we don't want to go to the excavation, and rescuing the prisoners is the Colonel's priority. I see the room with the doors closed at CB-CK 65-70 on the last map, and it would probably make sense to check it out, if there were appetite to do so. I want to know what's there, even if the Colonel does not.

When they were done looting, and ready to move on, the Colonel's curiosity led him to do "one last thing" before they escorted the ex-prisoners to freedom. He opened the doors in the south-west part of the torture chamber.

It was a smithy - the day before, they had heard the sound of the hammer and anvil through another door further south. The fire giant had been working here, perhaps only leaving his work only hours before. The fire still raged in the cast-iron oven - which was strange when the Colonel thought on it. No one was here to stoke it in any way, and there seemed to be far less fuel than there ought to be. Instead of stacks and stacks of wood, the walls were covered with weapon racks, that held the giant's as-yet unused creations: giant-sized weapons and armor.

Nineteen longspears, forty-one spears ,sixteen battleaxes, and nine greatswords, as well as various pieces of unfinished giant-sized armor.

Seein' as Hoss opens up a new space, Doc reckons he might as well reconnoiter the area less some varmint get at their back. And if'n thar ain't no varmint, might be some smokes or likker. Doc looses a soul to give an extra eye to the searchin'.

OOC:
Aw, heck, might as well check the room out!

The Colonel wants to make sure that Doc is protected. Here was the forge, and it's clear the Fire Giant has it fuelled by some magic supply... curious that it even needs the billows, he thinks. Regardless, it would be satisfying to make away with something personal of the giant's, and so he heads to the bed and checks it for some kind of trophy, before they leave.

Searching around the forge, there was, naturally quite a bit of value in raw materials, but it was much heavier than was likely worth taking without a wagon and some laborers. But, of course, Smolderheart (they'd heard that it was the name of the Fire Giant) kept his personals where most of the giants did - under his mattress. The Colonel lifted it to find a sack of gold and gems.

Doc was looking around as well, and he heard a rumbling murmur in the crackling of the fire inside the forge. The language was alien, but Doc knew an ancient creature when he encountered one. The forge was a prison, and there was one more prisoner that they could rescue - an elemental - but the question was: Was it safe to do so? Followed by: How?
