Can we please stop gaslighting with what's written in the thread title? What does "I guess?" mean to you?

The question mark in the second spoiler warning is irrelevant.

As for the movie itself, it was enjoyable other than the false advertising about Taskmaster, who got killed off before the team even formed.

It was interesting how The Sentry/The Void's use of his powers were symbolic of his mental illness. He flew high for manic, literally crashed into the ground for depressive, etc.

I didn't mind the short usage of Taskmaster in the movie vs. the implication in the promos... it caught me by surprise. That's what I want from these movies! I call that a gold star in the Disney column. I get you have a different opinion though :)

That's a good observation re: bipolar disorder. I hadn't noticed that.

Saw the movie.........
It was good. The "b-villains become heroes " is not exactly a new plot, but this is a decent twist. I do like them using established characters....though I would really have LOVED to see any original comic Thunderbolt.

I guess someone thought Thunderbolts* = The New Avengers was clever.....but, eh, did not really work for me.

I wish they would have stuck with the poetic origin of the Thunderbolts and not a little tikes soccer team.

And Julia Dryfes plays such a good villain....really with a lot of charisma that she does not even feel like a villain.

I would have liked to see Jolt or Charcoal(and Joystick).....but Thunderbolts 2, right?

I think Bob was done perfectly....much better then the comics.

I don't know anything about the comic book origins of the team; I thought how the team ends up being called Thunderbolts in the movie was pretty funny.

Yes, that was great. It’s a pity they didn’t keep the name.

That’s was a pretty great film, doing some really good work around depression, self-worth, the need to support each other, toxic masculinity, and of course avoiding the Marvel disease of a third act set piece battle. I think Eva/Ghost needed more character time, but eh, that’s a minor quibble.

In the comics the Thunderbolts were formed by Baron Zemo (who is the Neo Nazi son of a OG Nazi in the comics) and he specifically chose the name because it's "crypto-fascist" (that's an exact quote) and lets him chuckle about the dogwhistle going over the heads of the public.

Which is why they went with a different origin for the team name in the MCU.

I know all about the comics and I STILL thought that it was funny! It's a different animal.

It was quite good, and considering how much less time they had to tell Sentry's story than the comics have, I think that they did a solid job of getting to the important parts.
