D&D (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

incredibly, things don't need to contain NSFW aspects to be 'serious', honestly did putting in the infamous bear scene and whatever else similar NSFW content that is in the game really add any notable amount of value overall?
It isnt about "the bear", per se.

It is about being fearless, versus being trapped inside the fear of public disapproval.

Of course, an artist must be responsible and compassionate − and as a business profitable − but the art is worth less if it lacks integrity and authenticity. With Baldurs Gate 3, people felt the integrity.

It would be unfortunate if WotC decided to go too "family friendly" with whatever they do for a follow up, but I think it would be even worse if they learned the wrong less and went over the top with the NSFW stuff without having any of larian's heart or humor. Way too often, C suite folks read success entirely wrong and focus on singular elements and end up ruining sequels and follow ups.

Baldurs Gate and Newerwinter Nights are supertars in the CRPG genre but let's remember other titles tried it and failed.

A Planescape: Torment 2 is possible.

I doubt seriously a Hasbro-Tencent partnership because certain reasons off-topic reasons not linked to entertaiment industry. A partnership with a Japanese developer is closer to become real.

If the vibes between Hasbro and Epic Games were enoughly good, we could see a D&D collab within Fortnite: LEGO.

I don't advice multiplayer online games because they have to earn a lot of money to finance server maintenance.

Honestly, I'd prefer to see WotC adapt the Games Workshop model of licensing their IP. There's a surprising number of 40k games out there, and yeah, a lot of them are average at best, but having more games on offer means you're a lot more likely to put one out that appeals to people.
As a former BG3 obsessed addict, I've been hugely impressed by Owlcat games' take on Rogue Trader. So much that I want to give their Pathfinder games a fair shake (and I don't even like Pathfinder).

that would be even more meaningless, and an odd choice of words. I do assume it does mean something along the lines of ‘mature’ / ‘not light hearted’ rather than your ‘lots of sales’ interpretation
"We are making a video game. BG3 is a video game. Ours will be a game like that game. Serious and published. With computer programming. And graphics."

I would pay good money for an actual good Torment sequel.

I have played them both and greatly enjoyed them. With that said, Kingmaker requires a mod to do turnbased mode, which is what you want to be true to the original game. It is also a bit rough around the edges. Both frequently go on sale, but I recommend Wrath of the Righteous as it's more "advanced" in terms of presentation and polish. But I did finish Kingmaker and really enjoyed it. Wrath has been something I just haven't had time to get through yet.
