(Replying to Wawaate)

ARIL
If you come from a world with a sun in the sky that gives times of light and dark, you are going to find what I am about to say very strange. There is weather here, but no true seasons. Sigil is both a city and a small Plane, shaped like a ring roughly 25 miles in circumference. If it were flat ground and not a city full of buildings, you could walk entirely around it in one day.

"Plenty of room for a spellslinger to hide. What's the population?"

That's a good question. Of the Wards, the Hive wins for the sheer number of people crammed into it. How many...I don't know. I'm not sure anyone does, short of using a Wish spell to find out. Some folks will claim there's over a Million among the living in Sigil. I think that number might be on the low side. If the Fated or the Guv'ners know, they aren't talking.
I didn't catch your name. Care to share it again?
EDIT:
(Aril seems to been hit by a sudden thought. He turns until the gnome with a riding dog comes into view)

ARIL

Rule-of-three. Three Cutters and Three Clueless.
(Aril whistles quietly to catch the dog's attention, so he can wave the gnome over to their table.)

"I'm not sure our host is thinking of scouring The Cage, he wouldn't need the team for that. I think we will find out we need to Travel. As for the reward, I will take sending that annoying merchant overthere to a place called Waterdeep on Faerun."

Luke decided to honor the deal with the merchant even as he spoke, it seemed right thing to do. Which doesn't mean he won't take some securities.
"I'm Luke Cinder by the way. Nice to meet you. Rule of three...We need another group then. I propose luck, optimism and the smell number seven makes when speaking."

Luke is blond, his hair cut short and unkempt. His chin is squarish and face holds certain hardness.

He wears dark gray leather armor, tarnished so it doesn't reflect the light.
Dark green travel cloak hides most of his body. Boots of the same color are visible under it.

He has light crossbow slung across his back and in his hands dagger with dull gray blade dances back and forth while he distractedly plays around.

Mr. Black Whistles,

absolutely insane....that would put the city to be more than five times the size of the Jewel of Flanesse. The Hive by itself, is probably as big as the whole of the Free City. How the hell am I going to be any use in a missing person case in a city where I have no connections and know nothing about the players. Hell, I could be the spellslinger they're looking for and I wouldn't even know it. But....a man sure could be anonymous here.... (1)

The gears in his head start to turn.

Maybe this place ain't so bad...

I didn't catch your name. Care to share it again?
"You ain't bally, cutter, I didn't share it. Call me Mr. Black."

"I'm Luke Cinder by the way. Nice to meet you. Rule of three...We need another group then. I propose luck, optimism and the smell number seven makes when speaking."
Mr. Black nods in greeting.

He flips his chair around and straddles it and takes a seat.

"Like Wawaate, I was in the middle of...something...when I ended up here. I've been on the move for a bit. I'm gonna make myself more comfortable while we do business."

He removes his travelling cloak revealing a light blue great coat. It's double-breasted with large buttons down the front serving a double purpose of protection. He stuffs the traveling cloak into his heavily packed bag.(2)

1) If you haven't put it together, I'm using italics for internal dialogue.
2) Have to have my character match his portrait, otherwise it's just not cool :D

Wawaate appears lost in thought. More questions cross his brow, or what you can see of it under his makeup, but he remains quiet regarding his concerns.

"In any case, I am here to... understand what it means to live here. I will take the job. I will worry about finding a way home later. I would not be here if I was not supposed to be."

Let me know if the color of my speech is too low contrast.
