[Rant] I burned out last night...

Glad (..) to hear that I'm not alone. In our group, we each take our turn being DMs, most of the time in completely different campaigns. I started out a new campaign in a homebrewed strange setting, and my players were all happy about it. Then for four weeks the game was postponed because...

Wow! I can't believe this! Thanks to all the reviewers!

Ed, I haven't read your book, but I have an opinion on the mature themes. I guess the people who have the money to buy much (non-core) RPG stuff are in their late teens or are adults anyway, so I guess you shouldn't sacrifice your story's integrity for a minority of customers. In my gaming...

    Best Rogue Special Ability

I voted for skill mastery. In our campaigns, we use fumbles on skill too, so the automatic take 10 is a must. I tried it with spot and listen (with alertness and all), wich got the DM some ulcer... :D

What d20 game hasn't been done [or done right] yet?

I miss the Dune d20 game, eh, actually it never got to be, but I cherished my not-yet-there book anyway. Are there no Dune fans out there?

    About that Carte Blanche ...

Torment was made by some of the Fallout team... that's why it was so good. HeavyG : as in Heavy Gear? from Mtl? hehe, must be a Heavy Gear fan. I am too!

Cave in => buried... how do you get out?

And I guess high strength PCs' players would whine when you tell them that they can't try to get out, but they can lift horses... :D

    D&D 3E/3.5 (3.5) Tumbling Question

Nail, I'm pretty sure you can, as you make tumble checks against every ennemies you cross. Then I guess you could make a tumble check for each "tumble" (consecutive tumbled squares counted as one tumble).

Wolf animal companion as a mount?

That's exactly what we did, and the -5 for riding bareback seemed enough for our halfling druid w/wolfie.

Can Stunned Characters resist a trip?

I don't think so, IRC he can defend normaly. But I'd house rule differently, since it's silly that since you loose your Dex bonus you push back/sidestep/evade a hit. Just my 2 CAN copper

    D&D 3E/3.5 (3.5) Tumbling Question

Wich is good for hi-level Monks... who ran circles around ennemies in 3.0 but could not tumble much. I guess that change was intended just for them :D

[ENnies] New Revisions = New Products?

    I second that!

    Touch attacks do damage?

I couldn't quote either, since I remember seeing this in the Sage's advice in some dragon mag... but I won't check them all out just for this... I'll accept house rules as it happens.

    Touch attacks do damage?

If you wait to hit with an unarmed strike, as Tabarnak said, you have to remember that it won't be a touch attack, and a miss ruins the spell IIRC. Bu the way, do you have to use an action to activate a ring of shocking grasp? Got killed by a NPC monk that way... :(

    Gameisms...

Another good one we used to laugh at, Twan. A new player in our group once said "I hit him with my twan!" The DM did not catch up, so he had to explain. It means Two-Handed Sword... Two-hand... tw-an. We used it so much that now it's part of our vocabulary.

    Pronunciation of Drow

I agree that bou-lay could come out as mangled french.. though it is a surname here :D Anyway, here we use so much wrangled english that we think its french. Windsheere, Hol Doys, you get wonderful and colorful language when you meet old mechanics... :) Anyway, the worst wrangled english...

    Gameisms...

Ping! We use that one, but in the Ping / Pong (ping reply X seconds) internet sense. When a player isn't listening and it's his turn/cue, the DM pings him. This ping/pong has made it in our everyday vocabulary.

    Dragon #311 and Bards Q

Bards don't suck... unless you only play hack and slash. Think of it as killing someone with a d6... you HAVE to get creative and do things differently. :D

    I have a problem with a player!

I say you should continue to award RP XP bonuses... only, when a player do or say something that should get him a bonus (or penalty, for that matter), take a note so you can respond to the "why"s you'll recieve. I award XP for RP, mostly in secret, and crying players get XP penalties.

I guess that's what he does these days...

(again), in french d20 is pronounced "day-vain" (as in vain, only the n is silent. It is the same with d6 (day-sis). Only, a die in french is pronounced EXACTLY the same as the letter D ("day"). So, for us, it is d20, not "dee-twenny", and it sounds so natural. When we talk with non-gamers...

Three natural 1's in a row.........

Back a decade or so ago, our old DM, when his bad guys weren't doing well in combat, putted his d20 in his bag of Ruffles All-Dressed Chips. After a good shake, he sucked on the d20 real good (no to waste the seasoning on the dice) then rolled... almost always a natural 20. That DM got his...
