There's definitely going to be a 4E SRD. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4news/20080108a But oh well, as many have said, I guess we'll see soon enough.

    Hold vs. Spelllika ability

Nice bait attempt. I'll humor you. Carrying 25 pounds of folded up clothes in a pack weighs you down. Wearing 25 pounds worth of stiff clothing restricts your movements in addition to weighing you down. Yes, you fly more slowly while wearing medium armor than while wearing light; this is...

    Hold vs. Spelllika ability

Concentrating on the fly spell, despite only being a move action rather than a standard action, is still concentration on a spell, something that is a strictly mental action (and a notably easier action, at that). There is no "Superman-stance" requirement mentioned in the spell that forces the...

    Hold vs. Spelllika ability

They didn't open it up again, they clarified it in a way that you apparently disagree with. Entirely different things. I will admit that they dropped the ball in the sense that most spells reference the condition and leave it at that, rather than try to explain the condition in the spell text...

    Hold vs. Spelllika ability

And the glossary says... 3.5 PHB page 311. Definition of "paralyzed" is: So yes, purely mental actions are allowed to a held creature.

My players, do not read this question about a monster special ability!

In reverse order: This is how I would handle it in my game. Free action. Otherwise the ability would have been given its own name and description, and where it would have been declared what type of action it was. Standard action each round they are to be contolled, otherwise there would be a...

Need help with my rogue's feats

Then I really have to agree with the camp that says not to take Improved Initiative. +4 to initiative when you're already getting +8 or more from Dex at mid to high levels is practically meaningless, unless you're going up against a creature that also has improved initiative and a high Dex...

    Bugbear Combatants & Non-Combatants

Ouch. You're looking at an encounter that's off the charts. From 3.5 DMG pg. 49: If I had to rate it, I'd put it at closer to an EL 12-13. The worgs alone are a challenging encounter. The canine trip ability is highly underrated, especially if you play their pack hunting tactics...

Hiding and Moving Silently on a Mount

What kind of penalties are assessed when a creature attempting to be stealthy is being used as a mount? The worse of the rider's and mount's armor check penalty?

    looking for gnome fighter concepts

I concur with the mounted gnome possibilities. The gnome in one of my groups took Leadership and acquired a red half-dragon/dire weasel for a mount. Crezzashar doesn't have wings, but he's always happy to be fed a potion when it's necessary.

    Abusing Cloudkill

I'll buy that for a gold piece. :) Amazing how overlooking those defined terms can make a difference in one's perception of the game.

    Disintegrate vs. Slay Living

Three things: 1) there is no such thing as disintegration resistance or immunity short of a specifically cast spell resistance or things that make you resistant or immune to all spells, like antimagic or spell resistance; 2) a creature that reaches 0 with disintegrate is dusted, not simply...

    Disintegrate vs. Slay Living

22d6 damage for the minimum caster-level needed to cast the spell by a Wizard is a so-so combat spell? Admittedly, it's not a save for half, it's a save for a flat 5d6, and I'm not saying that disintegrate isn't a very useful utility spell, but still, jeez.

Touch of Idiocy - 3 dice or 1?

I'm pretty sure that reducing a caster's primary attribute does not take away actual slots, which are strictly a function of the caster's level; it only takes away the ability to cast spells of that level. So a 17th-level Wizard who only has an Int of 18 gains a 9th-level slot, he simply can't...

Touch of Idiocy - 3 dice or 1?

Okay, so I'll agree with simply losing access to spells of a level that your character no longer qualify to have access to, and also losing access to random spells for which you no longer qualify to gain bonus spells. That being the case, meta-magicked spells (other than heightened spells) in...

Correct. Correct. Yes. No. Relevant reading is 3.5 PH, page 151, Table 8-6: Armor Class Modifiers.

    Two-Weapon Defense

Unlike an actual shield, I would rule that the shield bonus from this feat does not apply when flat-footed.
