[24] Spoil me silly

Okay, in case the topic line wasn't clear enough, this thread will contain spoilers.

All right, I just watched the entire first season of 24 in the last few days. (Got it cheap on DVD.) I thought it was okay. Better than most TV out there, but not the Second Coming, by any means.

Here's the thing. I don't expect to buy seasons 2 or 3 unless I can find them equally cheap, but there's a lot of stuff I'd like to know.

So...

1) Who does Nina actually work for? She claims, at the end of S1, that it wasn't the Drazen family, but she was clearly helping them.

2) In brief, what's her character arc after season 1? I know that she escapes custody, but I don't know how. I know she eventually returns, but I don't know in what capacity. And I'm given to understand she dies in season 3, but I don't know details.

3) While I know Palmer becomes President (seen commercials), do they ever go into what happened with his son Keith, or his (presumably) ex-wife?

4) What about the woman (I forget her name) who blew up the plane in the first episode? Does she ever return, and (hopefully) finally get hers? (What can I say, I like my bad guys to pay the price for their deeds in my TV shows.)

5) Anything else of major interest revealed in later seasons?

Thanks.

Nina works for someone who works for someone who works for the main baddie in season 3, a formar MI-6 operative that was presumed dead during the attack on the Drazens.

2) In brief, what's her character arc after season 1? I know that she escapes custody, but I don't know how. I know she eventually returns, but I don't know in what capacity. And I'm given to understand she dies in season 3, but I don't know details.

She is granted presidential pardon in order to help locate the nuclear bomb in Season 2. Needless to say, Jack is none too happy when this happens.

3) While I know Palmer becomes President (seen commercials), do they ever go into what happened with his son Keith, or his (presumably) ex-wife?

Keith falls into background. Sherry Palmer, as first lady (iirc), becomes part of the conspiracy behind the nuclear threat in Season 2. She never intended the bomb to go off, seeing it as a tool to turn David into a hero and cement his (and hers) power. After the divorce, she falls on hard times, but in Season 3 she is called upon by President Palmer to help battle a smear campaign (in a "fight fire with fire" sense). In the end she gets hers through someone she manipulated into being an accessory to murder.

4) What about the woman (I forget her name) who blew up the plane in the first episode? Does she ever return, and (hopefully) finally get hers? (What can I say, I like my bad guys to pay the price for their deeds in my TV shows.)

The lovely assassin resurfaces in the Season 2 ender, when she infects President Palmer with a virus. She hasn't appeared again since, iirc.

5) Anything else of major interest revealed in later seasons?
Almeida has his character expanded, Kim Bauer is revealed to be a trouble-magnet, Jack Bauer dies, comes back, kills a friend in cold blood, shoots up heroin as part of a disguise, trains a pupil who happens to date his daughter, orchestrates a prison riot and more!

You forgot to mention the cougar!

Season 2 is totally worth checking out, though...it was awesome. Season 3...was pretty good.

And Nina's "offing" was great...
Nina: "Wait, Jack...I have more information..."
Jack: "No, you don't." BANG BANG BANG!

I remember telling someone about that and they wondered if Jack "made sure" she was dead...

I said, "Oh yeah."

Classic moment.

Oh, and don't forget about Kung Fu boyfriend!

No, no, no!

That's BANG! *clump* BANG!BANG!BANG!

Man, Jack Bauer is hardcore... :)

Nike says:

"Just do it!"

Jack Bauer says:
"Just do it! NOW!"

:D

My favorite moment is from the first or second episode of season two when he needs proof to infiltrate the group smuggling the bomb.

The 'I'm gonna need a hacksaw' line set the tone for the whole season.

The thing that annoys me about the show (and I like it a lot) is that they clearly have two 'arcs' per season, and the first has always been better than the second.

1st season: Kill Senator Palmer episodes were much better than Kim lost / Terri amnesia episodes.
2nd season: Find and detonate the bomb episodes much better than stop the fake war episodes
3rd Season: Good until the hotel epidemic, than kind of 'eh' while they tracked down the bad guys.

Kind of glad to see Kim gone in season 4. The scene with her in the weirdo's bomb shelter where she takes a shower and then puts on a thin cotton T-shirt may have been the most gratuitous cleavage shot in the history of television. Bravo. But the 'you're the only agent that can impersonate his daughter' part of season 3 was absurd. You could tell the writers were desperate for a way to work her into the second half.

I would say check out season 2, it was still on a high note except some goofy stuff with the President vs. Cabinet.

Season 3 starts flailing about in my opinion. And really once you detonate a nuke, who gives a crap about some little old virus. That was my problem with season 3. It tries to hard to be bigger but doesn't work. Oh, Palmer may not be President in Season 4.

*****************Plea for Spoilers*************************

unfortunately, I was moving when the last season of 24 came to an end. From what I remember, the virus had gotten loose in the hotel, and a bunch of people were dying from it (except the one woman from Jack's outfit, who's name escapes me at the moment)... so, what happened after that?

Michelle for whatever reason is immune to the virus and lives.

Then she gets out of the virus infested hotel and the bad guys capture her. She escapes but Jack orders her to go back in to give them time to find her or something along those lines, oh, so that the bad guy wouldn't move his time table up I think.

Tony, Michelle's husband finds out and is contacted by big bad guy who uses Tony to give himself an escape route.

Jack finds out, and uses the bad guys daughter to stop him. Jets fly over and fire missiles at the escape helicopter, thus they catch the bad guy.

The president has to deal with dead people and his brother and Sherry's mess.

How could I forget that line? I found myself muttering that one for days following the episode. I believe that was in the very first episode of season two.

Season two is really worth checking out...lots of fun.

The show is also very educational. I learned from it that L.A. has no traffic and that you can get anywhere in the city in under ten minutes. :D
