[3.5] Enormous number of changes - some make me wonder why...

Now see, this is information that helps me, more than "So and so's review of what's-his-face's review of someguy's review of dudemiesters review of 3.5....

A lot of good information on what's different in the PHB.
Anyone able to shed light on the DMG changes.
Specifics, and HAVE the DMG in your hands, don't fragging guess, I want details and REAL info, not blather...

All in all, the changes so far look good...
Give me a rundown on what PrC's were thrown at the DMG, and any info regarding the PrC suggestions, ruling, etc.

And how about some data regarding monster changes, and the changes to facing.
REAL data, not crap from other websites.

So if he's the bad cop...whos the good cop?:D ;)

I can see the reasons why you [Greyhawk_DM] may not read it, but I have some trouble liking things with out pictures etc, and I only have a PHB.

The Enlarge spell metamagic has been redefined to only increase the range of spells without a fixed range (i.e. if they are close, medium or long it works, if it is a cone or line it doesn't work). Wonder why they wanted to stop people getting longer lightning bolts and cone effects? I think that is a change I'll be ignoring (I wonder how long my list of ignored changes will be?). Oh, I know, it is so we might take the *Widen* feat instead to increase the area of Cones. At +3 caster levels

Lets add another Bah to this moronic decision. If it doesn't effect cones and lines enalrge; 1 should be renamed and 2 should be a +0 metamagic and even then its probably not worth the feat.

And widen just sucks major butt at +3 levels it really hould be a +1 level metafeat.

Planar Ally spells have more concrete suggestions about agreed payment:

100gp/HD for tasks of up to 1 min per caster level,

500gp/HD for tasks of up to 1 hour per caster level.

1000gp/HD for tasks of up to 1 day per caster level.

Nonhazardous tasks have that amount, hazardous tasks typically increase it. Few creatures will take a task that seems suicidal.

100xp cost.

100gp/hd for 1 min/level nonhazordous tasks and 100xp cost. Just remove the spell instead of making it this lame.

Plane Sailing, are there enough changes to spells and spell lists to say that the necromancer, illusionist and enchanter are equal to the evoker, transmuter, and conjurer?

After all, God forbid you might have to PAY something to do your bidding.

Frankly, the change is a lot nicer than the prices I used to charge.

1 point of temporary Con in blood per HD, and one ounce of flesh per minute....

I wouldn't call it lame, I'd call it, putting a price...

Another snippet - if you use Shapechange, the jade circlet melds with you, rather than being left behind as a rather obvious achilles heel. Yay!

I may be wrong, but wasn't this already the case in 3.0e?

I would probably houserule the costs down by a tenth, or allow a Diplomacy check to lower or waive the costs.

It really does seem like you'll have to double-check every spell cast; no longer can I, as a DM, let a player cast a spell without double-checking.

Oh well. Totally worth it, IMO.

Actually I'm pleased that many spells have been changed. When we converted to 3.0 I don't think any of our group re-read many of the spell descriptions We played them the same way we had done in previous versions - Haste was a case in point. None of us ever used it to cast an extra spell per round.

The many changes will force us to re-check many of the spell we routinely cast.

The only thing that does annoy me is the constant, minor tinkering with spells. Burning Hands seems to change shape and damage and saving throw every edition. Surely by now they should have gotten it right.

TEMPORAL STASIS

is now 8th level. that is crazy. AFAIK that spell has always been 9th level. STOPPING TIME PERMANENTLY (until a dispel).

Stopping Time... shouldn't this be the limit?? Its a touch attack with no save. !~!!!
