[4e] GM wanted: Paragon tier adventure?

I'm agonizing over my items and equipment. I think too much focus on teleporting and I'll be taken out by a grease spell or a common cold. I've been whacked for not having high enough defenses before, so I'm going to cover those. Then, I guess, look for fun utilities, and see if one of the two mages can't make me specific items as we adventure!

Any suggestions for Paragon items? I've never done this tier before, so I don't know what to expect.

Roles: I'm a defender, sure, but a teleporting defender isn't exactly a meatshield; I'll likely be staying near the casters, killing off minions and the like, and I don't know how well Swordmages work in combat (if well, I take it back!). We could use a blocker for brutes and solos, and someone who can really nail with damage. And some source of healing surge access is fun.
I agree with play what you want, but it is handy having the roles covered. A party with zero cohesion is just as bad as one where everyone plays something they hate: short games, tho due to TPK rather than not coming back.

Updated character...

Wanted to make the character more durable, much has changed since last he was posted.

He's changed his name to Vermillion.

He left his wife, in search of the means to prevent the prophesied destruction of his people. Unfortunately he was the one who had the vision, and related the prophecy. So he was labeled a mad man and excommunicated.

The prophecy is still hazy however, though he is certain his bounty hunting ways will help him to survive the hardships.

The concepts here are simple; have a huge AC (27), perform healing adequately (3 encounter powers), daze enemies (6 powers total), and look good doing it.

Hybrids don't get the ritual caster bonus feat... It's sad, because the free rituals are one of the best parts of being a wizard. However, I could never put together this character any other way.

He also has a decent to-hit, even better if an ally is in the blast or burst.

Hi, I know I'm late to this. Never believed as I first read the thread there will be a DM. My regards to blue.

Anyway, I still have this perfectly good level 11 swarm druid. If you think you can handle one more, I would be highly interested.

At this point, I'm not really sure. I need to do a compilation of characters and order them together. At which point I'll decide what I can / want to handle, and move from there. That probably won't happen for a little bit (sooner rather than later hopefully), so we'll see.

@Everyone else: I'm currently tossing around some ideas in my head and on paper, so in a few days I should have something mostly coherent, after which I'll put it down in a new thread with all the juicy details.

Regardless of what setting I choose (it will be homegrown, however; I prefer using my own imagination than someone else's, even though it means more work for me), I do want to have the campaign be played at a "mature" level. This means, in terms of my posting:

1. Swearing is ok, as long as it is done In Character (IC) and in context of the story.

2. Descriptions of battle scenes will be gorier than just "You hit with your sword."

3. Intrigue, deception, danger, and seduction will probably all play a role in the tale. Along with that, there is a very real chance that characters will die. At Paragon Tier, however, that becomes more of a setback than "Crap, I'd better re-roll."

If anyone has a severe offense to this type of setting, then please let me know and I can tone down one (or any) of these.

As far as style goes, I'm leaning more towards and RP type of game, with a good mix of battles thrown in. We shall see. I'll post more specific rules (like I said) in a new thread when the time comes.

Without those 3, a game won't be funny at all. Intestines and other organs flying around is what is really makes it enjoyable.

I'm good for all this stuff, though there are some things that make me uncomfortable: torture films and long descriptions of torture and/or rape. Empire Strikes Back had it just right: you know it's happening to Han, but it's not as bad as, like, the cartoon sequence in Kill Bill vol. 1, or the hostel/saw films (which after saw 1 was just repetitive). I suppose the seduction is ok, though, so that's fine.

Setting-wise, how colorful are you going for? Like, avoiding cuddly animals and frilly coats (please), if this were anime would we say Berserk or Final Fantasy? Or in D&D terms, are we talking Planescape/Spelljammer, or something more low-key, like Middle Earth?

As a note to everyone, I am still not fully comprehensive on 4th editions magic item rules, so I would appreciate a bit of help in this regard. Additional note, I have only access to the PHB and PHB2, though I've no issues using magic items and the like from other approved sources so long as I know what they are and how they work, I am just unlikely to know about them. Sulos here has a very major focus on cold magic(though it seems Sorcerer's don't have many good cold spells), which I also intended to help with controlling effects, so any hints there would be appreciated. Gear help would be additionally appreciated.

!!

My interest level just hopped the fence and took off! :D

Thanks eblue! Couldn't have asked for more!

Also, Berserk and Final Fantasy (depending on which we're talking about), are sweat love. Other than Berserk leaving me hanging and acting like it's "The End".

This is going to turn into a major distraction, better get some papers written today or I'll fall behind...
WooHoo! Paragon game!

Thanks to fireinthedust for getting this thread going, and another big thanks to eblue for taking it on!

[sblock=build thoughts]Cold Focus: the point of Lasting Frost/Wintertouched (which I was going to go for when I have the feats) is to get CA all the time. As such, you want at least one cold-based At-will power to spam it with.

As an MC warlock, I was thinking of having Ardaeryth steal the knowledge of the wintertouched/lasting frost from the Winter fey. That or have a patron who's a Ghaele of Winter, or something.

Sorcerers... well, I don't know if there's a frost dagger the way there's a flaming dagger. As a property I think you can make your damage cold damage, so that should be fine. Good implement, that.

Items: armor I'm taking is going to be Drowmesh, as it's a paragon item and fun; whatever the enchantments on it will be of course.
I think important items are those that boost your defenses, saves, attacks, and utilities that might come in handy in the campaign. Since we don't know if we'll be one horseback or on airship, that part is tricky.

Backgrounds: Ardaeryth was an Eladrin Court Champion, and for years thought he was the ideal of Eladrin life; however, for whatever reason he decided to leave and adventure. Maybe he needs to hone his skill, maybe it's part of his Feypact; or maybe there's some tower he's got to get through and kill a vestige or something. Or maybe its drinks and women-folk. Or maybe, just maybe, he's escaping for political reasons.

Question: have we been adventuring before? And can we make up our group history?

Also, can I invent an item: a scabbard that swaps my swords for me?

Berserk: yeah, it was so intense. Heroic Martial campaign if ever I saw one. The fact they went that nuts with the ending that suddenly really kicked my butt. A movie or something would be good, but the Anime keeps on going, I think.

I'm enjoying episode 2 of Druaga. It's not cartoony or funny (like ep 1, which was weird), and I'm wondering if the opening credits are telling us that the teens are a gaming group? I dunno!
