(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Double post: that’s a lot of melee characters.

When we split, it would be handy to have one ranged spellcaster or one ranged fighter type in each group.

Yep! I noticed two things- first, the abundance of melee characters. Second ....

Anyway, the funny thing about it is that in our other group, we had the situation with a dearth of melee characters, so I thought to myself, "Self, this time I'll go melee! Apparently that's needed."*

Note to self- stop thinking. It never helps.


*As someone incapable of going halfway, I made a character that has no ranged options whatsoever. Suck it, Legolas.

Well, I have Javelins and can cast Jump which should allow me to close ranged attackers.

I could go archer fighter Battle Master but I feel it's too late to change....that said, I can have the exact same character that I currently have on a different Class. He carries a polearm...and a bow.

And I like humans. I was looking at the Aasimar with it's flight ability and other cool stuff but I just can't bring myself to play it.

Yep. Unless I have something really specific in mind, I always go human. Sometime I even go with "living human." Side-eye at Doc.

I wouldn't worry about changing up your character- IME, almost all characters have options for range, even if they aren't as good. I just made specific choices that ended up creating a melee-only skirmisher with some killer percussion. If you can't hack 'em to death, you can always form a drum circle.

My character has jump at will (1/rnd) and a base speed of 35, so he's the ranged weapon!
BTW, I like warladin, sounds the best!

Sorry about the waffling here. I seem to have confused how barbarian's AC works.

Apparently, the Con bonus to AC doesn't stack with armour? When D&D beyond said my AC was 16, I thought that was my AC WITHOUT Armour but WITH my CON. It turns out, the Con bonus is only a thing if he's not wearing armour.

So, whether or not he wears armour, his AC is 14: (chain shirt 13+dex) or NAKED (10+3(Con)+1 (Dex)). It won't change unless he finds some fancy Medium Armour. Let's just assume he's unarmoured because that's cooler (and cheaper). It turns out he's flush with cash instead of broke as I originally thought.
 

Copper can go for ranged combat, to be fair. At this point he hasn't used any feats to specialize, and weapon mastery can be swapped out every day. Might have to get him some hand crossbows eventually to keep up with the ranged act, but thats just some gold (or treasure)
