Yeah, sure! That's the kind of thing that I was hoping to see, that I couldn't necessarily think of by myself.
Cool. Didn't end up using it for the first set of encounters, but maybe next round.Yeah, sure! That's the kind of thing that I was hoping to see, that I couldn't necessarily think of by myself.
They moved laterally from you. I'm pretty sure that (as long as I'm not being anti-5e with my diagonal movement rules, and I'm not) the closer one is still 30ft from you. (Checking...) Yup. You can jump out and rush the one who's looking at the illusory barricade.@FitzTheRuke
Apologies- but before I post I wanted to check. Shamal originally was in melee range of one mercenary, but if I'm reading the most recent update Merrick AND the Mercenaries moved, and I'm no longer in melee range? The change from 30' to more than 30' is a big deal. Trying to confirm before I post.
No worries. I was maybe mildly cross, but I wasn't offended.Sorry if it seemed like a complaint.
The wagon can pull off about 10ft of movement uphill per round. It's steep and the wagon is overladen.Merrick is hoping to continue down the path, past the caravan so the caravan moves past him into the 'ambush zone'.
The "front guard" merc can see the barricade. The wagoners will have to take his word for it. They probably start to worry and get ready for trouble, but there's not a lot they can do but press forward. Other than maybe stop dead, which I guess they'll do when there's an attack. At this point, I don't think that's going to happen. Seeing as they see the barricade, I was going to post and pull the trigger on the ambush.
You could charge forward. It's not safe, but it's a very "barbarian" thing to do.I was waffling between running towards the wagon or running back towards the ambush. But then I had to leave my house and didn't get to post.
Not easily, no. It would be a LOT of work for very little gain.I think we should just attack at this point. It's not like they can back the wagon up.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.I think main "objection" is that the one who is visible is "in front" of the group...we could rain death from 1 level up instead of two...if I follow the posts correctly.
I can't see why not. Also: You can slide down the "cliffs", as I mentioned under the map, if you're willing to risk it.Also, can really everyone attack from up there?
Sure.I think we have to attack now that the guards have seen the blockage, they know it is an ambush. I will start if no one objects
Most of us are on the ledge Beyond the benefit where Merrrick stood. If we want into melee, we need to risk two drop. If the cart was closer, we would still be above them, just one level.I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

Sure. I guess I imagine an ambush from a defensive as well as offensive perspective. YOU can, for example, from where you are, walk up to the ledge, shoot an arrow at them, and walk back to the rock you were next to with excellent cover. If you were to go into melee with the wagoneers, it's not an ambush, it's just a regular fight. Most of us are on the ledge Beyond the benefit where Merrrick stood. The problem stems from the part where it looked like we were going to do a social challenge for a bit to lure them into the trap. Or at least, that's the way the situation seemed to be going as I read it. Which is fine, it is a better position to have them around the bend, but it's not totally unworkable as-is. I'll just have Copper be impetuous and start the fight off with a shot, it's in his character anywayTeam Ambush
Okay, let's discuss expectations. Because everyone seems to be struggling with this ambush, and I'm not sure why.
