[sblock=P8]Equipping the weapon. Actually you can do both, since you didn't use a Standard. Minor, Minor, Move is allowed in one turn.[/sblock]

The writhing plague of rats scampers out of the hole onto the floor above; an opportunity that Talon takes. He manages to skewer a few of them just before they swarm over Rujah’s feet, biting and gnawing at his boots, which seem to be holding,…for now.

While Rujah kicks at the rats and Talon wonders if Fenwick was right about how they taste, they hear a rough voice yelling, “Get’em boys!”

Like bats from The Abysss two small draconic figures fly up the stairs in a flurry of leathery wings. One of them snaps a warning at Talon, while the other takes a chunk out of Dayna, marring her beautiful coat with a hideous gash and streaks of warm blood. The hovering drake hisses through blood-soaked teeth in a menacing laugh as they both fly back down the staircase from which they came.

[sblock=Mechanics]Jin's attacks score 21, but rats take half damage, rounded down, from melee and ranged attacks, so total damage done to the rats by his attack is 10. Talon manages to do another 7 (see below).

Rat Swarm Actions:
Move: Climb to J17
OA from Jin: 1d20+6=12 Miss
OA from Talon: 1d20+5=16 Hit
Damage from Talon’s OA: 1d10+3 + 1d6=14, halved and rounded down = 7

Standard: Swarm of Teeth
Target:
Rujah
Attack:
1d20+6=8 Miss.
BTW: Talon, Dayna, Rujah, and Fenwick are all in the Rat Swarm’s aura. I will ask each of you to roll the attack at the beginning of your own turn since it may be possible for some of you to be pushed, pulled, slid ect… before then.

ST Drake1 Actions:
Move: to G20
Minor: None
Standard: Flyby attack with Bite
Target: Dayna
Attack: Fly G19, G18, H18, 1d20+6=25 Hit!

ST Drake 2 Actions

Target: Talon
Attack: G20, G19, G18, H17, 1d20+6=8 Miss

[sblock=OOC]HMG, if Talon had used one of those minor actions to activate Hunter's Quarry still, then the rats would have taken an additional 1d6 damage from that. More importantly, they will still have the HQ on them for the future.[/sblock]

[sblock=P8]Duly noted. Thanks for reminding me. I updated the original post to reflect the roll. Synopsis: It did another 2 damage (rolled a 4).[/sblock]

As the rats swarm over Fenwick's ankles, biting deeply, he screams "Expire, vermin!" attempting to draw strength from his enemies' defeat. He swings his axe in a great overhead arc, bringing it down, unfortunately, in such a way that it does no damage to the rat pile.

Hey guys, I'm kinda wondering what exactly would be best for Rujah to do right now. I know I should probably fight the rat, but I was also thinking perhaps it would be a better idea for me to move and block off the wyverns in the corridor while the rest of your guys beat on the rats. What do you guys think?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]if you can move away from the rats cleanly, getting in the way of the flying thingies might be good. IIRC, you're the hardest one to hit, and if they have open access into the room, their fly-by attack is nasty. Fenwick would try it, but he's backed into a corner being nibbled to death by rodents the size of his big toe at the moment.[/sblock]

Well, I'd provoke an OA, I think. I could shift into Dayna's square as a minor action, then take a move action to intercept the critters, if I understand correct, but leaving Dayna's square would provoke an OA. If I misunderstood, correct me so I can understand better. :)[/sblock]

Something like this would have worked in 3.5, but in 4E, a shift is a move action. If you don't plan on attacking, just getting in position, you could do it. I'm pretty sure the rats would get an OA out of it, though.
