Adventure: Hey! That's Not Wayne's Basement! (DM: H.M.Gimlord, Judge: Ozymandias79)

"Someone rehabilitate wolf. Fenwick stand guard! Fenwick no good at medicine."

[sblock=tactics]Do we try to take them from multiple angles, or simply hunker down and let them come to us?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC/Theroc]Just don't worry about it man. I don't want another retcon where someone dies. We made out pretty good in that round, I think. I'm surprised I didn't get an OA, but if it means redoing all the attack rolls thereafter, all the enemies could get hits the next time.[/sblock]

"Fenwick, switch places with me. Rujah, come back to us. We need to stick together. Take cover. After I heal the wolf, we'll take them out, together." Jin ran over and knelt next to the wolf, performing first aid. "It is the way of the warrior to die in battle, but you cannot die yet. Though your master is gone, you must still avenge his death. With martial valor, if one becomes like a revengeful ghost and shows great determination, though his head is cut off, he will not die."

[sblock=Theroc] The free action to mark all adjacent enemies lasts until the end of your next turn. Your last turn ended without you declaring a new mark, so the bandit was free to attack Jin (though in the roll lookup, I did slip up and type in Rujah by mistake. Maybe I was feeling guilty ;)).[/sblock]

[sblock=Tenchuu]The bandit's Mace attack power gives him the ability to shift a square after a hit, thus avoiding the OA. I've been neglecting this effect up until now. No telling how things would be if I had remembered it.[/sblock]

Oh, I forgot it. And Tenchuu, if I ignore those OA's, not much point in playing a defender, the whole point is to punish those who don't fight me when they're supposed to. >.> [/sblock]

HM - Got it. I missed that reading the status

Theroc - I hear ya, but you just have to consider the effects of a redo. If we escape with little damage, we might be better off.

Yeah, I'm still not sure I understand why the NPC's get to change all their actions when that happens, since I can't tell HM I want to interrupt when the bandit attacks during the action, I have no choice but to wait until after, and then things turn out worse, even if I KILL an enemy. >.>[/sblock]

You haven't updated Rujah's Healing Surges. I spent one on that second wind that stupid halfling just got rid of in one bloody attack. :eek:[/sblock]

Rujah snarls as the halfling struck him again, turning to Jin with a still rather angry expression on his face. "If we don't kill that halfling, we'll ALL be dead in seconds!" He does slide from his rage and move back behind the table for cover, however.

[sblock=OOC question]
Does H29 provide cover from the halfling's attack areas? Will add in Rujah's actions once I know where Rujah can move for cover.[/sblock]

"Fenwick gladly comply if we get to annihilate foes!" Fenwick switches places with Jin and watches the entrances carefully, waiting for a chance to hit someone.

[sblock=Theroc, Tenchuu]I have to apologize for the last retcon because that was completely my fault. I should have posted the offending action by itself, offering Rujah the opportunity to perform the immediate action of Theroc's choice. In the future, I will do things this way.

I also think that, despite how things turned out last time, taking the OAs and immediate reactions is a better policy in the long run. Just think:

As bad as that round ended, it actually put you at an advantage. It ended up killing one of the enemies, making it difficult for the remaining bandit to flank, without which he doesn't get his CA bonuses.

That round is the reason you have had two rounds of mostly missed attacks and low damage. It's also why they're running and hiding rather than fighting in the open.

Just another perspective. Don't give up on the OAs.

Again. In the future, I'll post OAs and give Rujah the opportunity for his immediate reactions.

In the case above, however,there were none.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]
Yeah, I forgot to mark him, was late last night and forgot to post. If I HAD, I would have slid him right back next to Jin, lol. Also, HM, need an answer to this:
