ooc: dragon can't fit through narrow part of path. Perhaps there is another way...

As the monk inspects the pressure plate he notices right away that this one was complex in its design. Disabling it will take a little time and luck.

Disable pressure plate: Thievery check DC 25

ooc: sorry MetaVoid. Missed the thievery check.

The white dragon, in a dire state, seeing that his master is moving away from him, smashes its hefty body against the narrow pasaageway. To its surprise, the wall gives way, giving the dragon ample room to follow the bard, much to both of their delight.

After careful study of the pressure plate Drew manages to disarm it by finding a small notch on close to the wall. Carefully sliding his hand he flips a small lever, disabling the plate. It lowers two inches, then stops. Nothing else happens. Ten feet in front of the monk is another set of cracks on opposite sides of the wall, like the first ones the party encountered. Up ahead about a 100 feet is a set of double doors. As the party approaches the doors, the ground begins to swirl. Dust and debris slowly materialize into the shape of humanoid figure. The figure speaks I AM THE PROTECTOR. NONE SHALL PASS UNLESS YOU SHOW SACRIFICE

You sense a strong presence of magic. You sense that tampering with the statue may cause unwanted effects to you and your allies.

this information is revealed to you in a pm :)

The voice of the statue echos down the corridor, then fades away. All is silent. The humaniod figure stands set in stone in front of the party.

What do you do?

OOC: Sharpe will be riding on the dragon :)

Hey it is one of those magic statues! The kind that blows up or something when you tamper with it. Sharpe says happily.

I say we sacrifice the necromancer, be is only going to betray us anyway.

Sharpe looks around. Fine guess that idea is off. he goes off with the dragon and comes back several minutes later. The then dragon spits a freshly killed (and slightly slimy) hobgoblin corpse out of his mouth. There, fresh hobgoblin sacrifice!

The statue remains motionless as the dragon presents a food offering to it. Dragon spitle drips form the appendages of the statue. The splatter of the spit echoes throughout the hallway...

Vermitrax rises an eyebrow at Sharp but says nothing for the moment.

Ahhh...yes...You've seen something like this before. It is another guard against intruders. The statue must be disabled in order to pass through. You remember something quite unique about this statue. It has the power to deflect all physical melee attacks and harmful spells cast against it, and redirect the damage to another member of your party. Perhaps you can think of a way to cause it damage by doing something else.
