Andromeda - question (saw it again after a really long time)

I saw Andromeda again after a really long time. The particular episode had Trance trimming a bonzai tree to alter reality.

At the very beggining of the episode, after one of her alterations, she says "did the guy come here to kill Beka, does he know that she is the one or was it just a coincidence?" -- (or something to that effect).

Now, question, what did Trance mean by Becka being "the One" ?

Just curious... no need for all the details, just a general idea would suffice.

Thanks!

A number of shows back this Trance changed places with the old Trance, there were two Bekas in that show. Trance and her and a mission/plan they were performing in the future. I think that line goes back to that show. I have not been following it that much myself, so it could be something else.

That was a cool episode, as was the one where Dylan's first officer killed him and took his place in the future.

In any case, I'm not really sure. Trance is the biggest unknown in the whole series, and this episode was even more Trance weirdness.

Anyway, here's what is more or less known about her:

-She can survive at least some injuries that would kill a normal human.
-She has the ability to see into the future, though it probably isn't perfect.
-She was apparently worshiped as a god by a sentient race somewhere in the Andromeda universe.
-She's not unique, there is at least one and possibly two other members of her race.
-During the tesseracting incident she somehow switched places with her future self to prevent a bad future from happening.

And there's probably more I'm forgetting.

Anyway, I think Trance sort of knows how things are going to turn out. I think that's why she joined Beka's crew, because apparently Beka is important, and because she knew Dylan would fix things in the Andromeda universe. Or something. I really don't know.

BTW, how come there aren't any regular discussions about Andromeda in this group?

Well, from what I heared, many people seem not to like Andromeda, because they can`t stand "Mr. Herculess"...

Well, I cannot say that I especially like his performance (compared to Patrick Steward or Avery Brooks?), but he isn`t a reason for me to not watch Andromeda.
In fact, I enjoy the show. Maybe I am to much a Science Fiction Fan (or, somewhat unconciousness to me, a Roddenberry Fan?) ... :)

But I can`t give up-to-date information on these boards, since I am a German viewer, meaning that I see every episode approximately 1 year after most EN Worlders here...

why no discussion? ... I think it's because it's not on at a regular time consistenly ...

I loved the show, but haven't caught in quite a while.

It used to be on here where i live just before Enterprise. Now I think it is on at like 2am or something. I rarely catch an episode.
From what I remember though your right about the Trance thing up there. She has traded places with her future self. Beca and crew are important.

Well, Kevin Sorbo's performance of Dylan Hunt is almost comparable to William Shatner's performance of James Kirk. But unlike William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, and Avery Brook, Kevin has the disadvantage of not being classically trained in Shakespearean theater.

He's just another bodybuilder turned actor (following Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Lou Ferrigno).

Andromeda - Loved the first season (I even posted back then about the possibility of someone doing Andromeda d20). Hated the second season and havent watched it since. It had a lot of potential that seems to have been killed off by politics within the show's producers, writers, and Keven Sorbo. Once they lost the original guy (a director or producer or something who wrote many of the shows.. forget his name), it just wasn't the same. Changing trance was just the last straw... losing Rev after they developed him so well with the last show of the first season was a pain. I even created a D&D character inspired by Rev (a cleric/monk of Ilmater who is a naturally born werewolf but must suffer involuntary changes but tries to do more good than evil, having been raised from infancy by monks and clerics of Ilmater).

Ah well.. don't watch any tv anymore, but I do have fond memories of the first Andromeda season.. one of the best seasons of a show, I think. They had some great ideas in that universe and with those characters.. pity they cheapened it to sf-cliches and nothing-but-action. I guess this is what woulda happened to Crusade if it had gone on as TNT wanted it to.

There's nothing wrong with Sorbo. I enjoyed Hercules when it was on the air, and Andromeda's pretty good too (though it seems a little flat this season for some reason). The Andromeda storyline is fairly interesting; not quite up to B5 standards, but better than most current Trek fare. And I don't get cable, so if I want a sci-fi fix, I have to rely on syndicated fare. No Farscape for me (though I think I saw that show once or twice; never really caught my interest).
