Any interest in a "Realistic" D20 rules set

Ok I have a blatantly selfish question for you all...

I am finishing up a rule set that allows the use of most D&D/D20 stuff with minimal effort but gives the feel of systems like BRP, GURPS and so on.

The game becomes more skill focused, combat becomes a bit more dynamic and dangerous but the core stuff is the same. Almost anything can be converted in a matter of moments for use

Right now there are a lot of games out there with semi compatible systems. I would like to prodcue the default 'standard' that alows a more simulationist feel for games.

This isn't meant as a competitor for D20 Modern as what I am working on is for past ,present and future games.

Its sort of D&D that feel like BRP

Any interest in this sort of thing ?

D00d, after two consecutive sessions in which our 13th-15th level party got our butts kicked by wraiths, spectres, an uber-necromancer and her uber-slaad henchman, the last thing I want is a MORE dangerous game. :)

I guess that's better than the DM that just put us against 4 Dracolich's controlled by the Cult of the Dragon. Yeah, we WERE supposed to stop them from completing their ritual but our halfling rogue failed his listen check and we got surprised...

oh, I don't think that's the topic of discussion here :D

Seriously, I'd like to look at those rules, since I think that the d20 system as we know it now kinda blow as for lack of realism, and that if combat was skill based instead of feat based, and that there was an actual parry and dodge skill, and specific weapon skills, then yeah I'd go for that...now that would give it a good swashbuckler, more options, and more fun game...

Would your system also change magic from fire-and-forget into something a little better? I mean, A LOT better?

My system doesn't exactly have a generic magic assumption.

I have a "subtle magic" system I include that uses standard spells and power points I think is pretty good

Also you can use fire and forget and any of the numerous systems already out there.

Myself I am kind of waiting for elements of magic to come out to see how it fits.

As to combat it is still level based, sort of. I don't find this unrealistic since if you know how to fight most of what you know will carry over. It is a lot more dynamic however.

My biggest complaint is how dull D&D combat is. My system peps it up a lot

D&D 3E lacks realism? You mean, it was once realistic??!!?? Okay who dosed my Dr Pepper, 'cause I KNOW I am hearing things :)

ummm....no. I'd much rather just use other systems. I might be one of the few these days, but I like playing a variety of systems. It keeps gaming fresh for me.

Well for my realistic games I shall use Gurps or Fudge... making D&D or D20 realistic kind of defeats their purposes imho

Hi there Ace! :)

I am curious as to your solutions to some of 3rd Ed.s faults. I doubt you will be willing to reveal too much but for example how would you deal with the issue of strength?

I am ever hopeful that 4th Edition will solve any issues I have with 3rd Ed. I suppose we will have to wait and see.
