Anybody else getting sick of the pervasive-magic crutch in the game?

Is there too much magic in the game so no problem can be solved without it?

Firelance's post (which Hussar Quoted For Truth) is also a good argument against the "magic items are simply stored spells" method used in 3e. The lists of special effects (i.e., non-stored spell powers) given for weapons and armor should be expanded to all items, and include as many more qualities as the designers can think up.
