Not yet (my freaking cable's been out for 3 days... I was getting the no-Internet shakes). But it's on tonight at 7:30 Central (woohoo!). Go, Spider-Doogie!
It was surprisingly good! I'm not entirely thrilled with the cell-shaded 3-D thing, and I definitely don't like how shiny Spidey is, but the story and the fights were really, really good.
The look of it bugged me a bit, but I really liked the story it told. I would say it has more the edge of Ultimate Spider-Man than nomral Spidey comics, but thats not a bad thing. I will be giving it a try over a few episodes. Maybe the animation style will grow on me.
I thought Spider-Man was a bit too shiny. (Save the shininess for anyone wearing a metal outfit or energy beings or energy attacks.) However, the stories were quite good. I think the series has possibilities. Also, I thought Lisa Loeb's voce worked well for MJ.
I caught an episode earlier Saturday night. The story was good but I was really put off on the animation. I felt like I was watching The Skinny Sim Spider Video Game. Everybody was just too skinny including the henchman. Some of the movements were slow and not smooth at all. If I had to rate it, I would give it a C+ overall. I really hope this is not the wave of future cartoons...
Give me Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends over this version.
While I'm much like everyone (not that a big fan of CGI and Mainframe for Spidey) if they keep Avi Arad to do the story work, I'll be happy. (Certainly the NEW look Electro was more than decent.)
