AU/Diamond Throne Banner Design Contest

AU/Diamond Throne Banner Design Contest

Are you a graphic designer? Or do you just love Photoshop, Flash, or similar programs? Would you like to win a copy of Arcana Unearthed? Enter our contest!

The Council of Magisters is preparing for the launch of their new Arcana Unearthed fan site, diamondthrone.com. However, this site is "by the fans, for the fans" so we're turning to you to help.

The rules: Design a website banner that will appear as the header for diamondthrone.com. This should be tasteful, clear, and attractive. It can be a swf, jpg, gif, or png, but no file over 30k will be accepted. The file should be no larger than 760 pixels wide by 130 pixels tall. Send an e-mail to councilofmagisters@yahoo.com with a link to your final submission or post the link on the Arcana Unearthed message boards. Please do not submit anyone else's work but your own. Derivative content or images that use copyrighted material will not be considered. The winning entry becomes the property of the Council.

AU is coming out fast, so we need you to work fast! Submit your entry by midnight PST, July 2, 2003. The Council of Magisters will judge the submissions and announce the winner shortly thereafter. If your design is chosen, you win a FREE copy of Arcana Unearthed!

Good luck!

that's right! one time chance! spend 20 hours working on an illustration, get a free book!

i realize lots of people will jump at this chance, and it is probably a pretty cool contest, but i long for the day when a field that has art in EVERY product will finally value their artists enough to treat them with the same respect they treat the writers.

Maybe it isn't clear from the original post, but this is for the AU fan site we're launching.

No one is getting paid anything for this -- from the people who run the site (the Council) to the people who submit articles (one guy already has an incredibly detailed AU campaign setting written up) or any of our other contributors. It really is a creation of people who are enthused about AU and want to share their work.

We're not going to resell the art, and we'll be happy to credit the winner. That should have been stated in our initial announcement.

I love good artwork. If we had a budget, we'd gladly pay for good artwork.

The best we can do is offer a book and a little glory.

But to be honest, glory is all we're offering anyone else at this point. (And AU is a pretty cool book.)

We have a few submissions already and it is readily apparent that there are some talented people out there.

So, keep those submissions coming. Your banner could be the one chosen. And, as Thrommel has stated, we will credit your submission on the website.

And it if helps to sweeten the deal, I think the Council could convince Monte to autograph the AU book for the talented winner.

:D

Hey everybody, today is the final day to enter!

I know half the office is on vacation, and the other half is browsing the Strong Bad e-mail archives, so why not fire up that copy of Paint Shop Pro and try to win a FREE copy of AU?

Let's be honest -- it's the most productive thing you're going to do all week.

;)

Winner!

There were many excellent entries and the Council of Magisters would like to thank everyone who put their time, talent, and effort into this contest. We're proud to announce we've chosen an entry by Chris Cumming to serve as the masthead for diamondthrone.com. Chris has won an autographed copy of AU!

Look for Chris' work next week as the Council of Magisters launches http://www.diamondthrone.com - the official fan site for Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed. We plan to have listings of AU events, more examples of AU in action, and plenty of opportunities to showcase fan-created AU material.

Diamondthrone.com is by the fans, for the fans. If you're interested in contributing, e-mail us at councilofmagisters@yahoo.com.

Again, a big round of thanks to everyone who participated!
