Balance of classes in Star Wars (the new edition=

On the whole, much more so than the OCRB.

In fact, I can't even think of any class balance issues off hand that are serious.

I would say that the Tech Specialist is slightly underpowered for what he's supposed to be (he could use 6 SP/level, and more bonus feats rather than that silly expert ability).

The Scout suffers slightly from the watering down of Skill Mastery (it only affects one skill now). If you're willing to pop a 14 Int on a Scout, you should reap the benefits.

All my other concerns with the classes are flavor concerns, so yeah, they're pretty freakin' balanced!

agreed. i like the new balance now.

possibly. 4 SP isn't very much for someone whose main ability lies in the realm of skills. of course, most Techies should be specializing in just one field, so maybe they don't really need a lot.

besides gathering a bunch of Skill Emphases, though, what other bonus feats could they pick up?

also, what is up with the Techie's saves? they don't follow the standard progression. i don't like that.

on the other hand, the way it was written before, your 10 Int Scout would get exactly 0 use out of Skill Mastery. (it affected one skill per point of Int bonus. there was no text stating a minimum of one skill or anything.)

yeah. one flavor concern i have is with the Noble class. in the OCR, the Noble class could be used to represent just about any "social interaction" type character, from an actual noble to an entertainer to some rowdy street agitator. now, with the inclusion of the resource access class feature, it seems that all Nobles are required to be wealthy elite.

Also, Tech Specialists will most likely be the kinds of characters to have a high Int; giving them 6 skill points per level will end up with a lot of characters ending up with 11 or more skill points per level.

And, as someone mentioned earlier, he is a Tech Specialist, meaning he focuses pretty narrowly on one field.
