D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

We don't know yet what we can change about party member through respec.
We do, actually.

The answer is everything but race/gender. WolfheartFPS covered this in his videos.
Can you swap these around in BG3? I'm not sure what she can even multi class into at this point.
Yes according to Wolfheart you can change those to whatever you like with the 27-point point buy. It also has Tasha's style attributes so you can have +2 and +1 whatever.

Now if you want rolled stats, those are off the table until mods come in.

And re: dwarves you'd need to be one or pick up the generic-style companion who is one.

Ah. Guess I haven't seen that video pop up.

I don't like being able to fix party member stats. If that's what they were going for, they might have as well started them off with much more optimal spreads, now it's just busywork. Lae'zel, what are you even doing with Int 11, how does that help anything.

Gotta spend that last point somehow!

But yeah everyone but Karlach's stats are fairly easy to argue as not quite optimal. Certainly playable and close to optimal though. The stats have changed a few times in EA - Shadowheart used to have 8 INT which was extremely funny, for example.

Dwarves standardly have Yorkshire accents and attitudes, not Scottish ones. Soz but it's true.
Ail haave ye ken mah dwarven PC has a Scots accent ye wee scunner. (when it doesn't drift into Irish or Welsh).

I did do a whole village of halflings with Yorkshire accents though.

But in the 21st century it takes more than a silly accent to make a non-human character. You actually have to have some culture! You see this in the Dragon Age games, where they go into great depth with dwarven and elven culture and society, and produced the best dwarven NPC in any CRPG in the process. You can understand why the BG3 writers didn't want to go there - someone else has already been there done that. So they went for a less well known species as their token aliens - Githyanki.

Dwarf will probably be a DLC, or will emerge in the inevitable Larian style Enhanced Edition, that suckers like me will of course buy.

It is a real problem running RPGs in my neck of the woods. Everyone tries to play different races, but we just all get stuck playing dwarves every time. No matter what we do, as soon as we start talking in character- bam! Instantly we’re dwarves. Weird.
