D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

How are the downloads going?

There is a lot of adaptability in the game. You'll have options on how to fill roles. However, as the pre-built come with added storyline, I'd recommend using them over your various runthroughs.
About halfway. A bit slow, but I'm not worried; it should be done before I'm off work today.

I've been reading the reviews-in-progress from those who got review access a few days ago, and all of them are giving high praise, reporting only a few minor bugs that barely detract from the experience. But, of course, they're still in the EA areas that had time for the most polish, so we'll have to see what happens when they get to newer areas...

Fiber my friend. Changes ones life. ;)
I'd love a fiber provider, but we're at the end of a DSL strand, and so we expect Fiber is the last thing on anyone's mind for our neighborhood. ATT Uverse is a measly 50 MBit here because of it, and we're surrounded by a sea of fiber households. :(

Mortismal, who is like a professional game rusher, completed the game, and he says the later areas have some framerate drop issues and crash bugs, but he didn't encounter any progression bugs at all (which is kind of shocking, though he may have been lucky).

I guess after this launch soon we will see news about the rest of projects. The last "WotC presents" was in August 2022. Then the next annoucement should be soon. Or will be it after the release of Planescape?

Could BG3 become so popular in the Western market like Final Fantasy?

Would be too expensive and difficult to create an otome D&D videogame? I have got a new crazy idea. ("If you consume melange then don't drive, an advice by Paul Atreides!"). An otaku girl from Kamigawa: Neon Dinasty loses her life for Phyrexian invasion, and her soul is reincarnated within her favorite interactive novel "Cybertronian romance" where the main character is a "kisser", a (techno)magical girl with the power to load energy to a cybertronian champion, the nobleheart autobots. Usually the autobot is a giant mecha with the skill to change into other shape... usually a vehicle, or an animal, but also with the power to shapeshiter into a "pretender", a classical humanoid body (and the MC can date... even marry and breed children).

While the EA areas had the most polish, they did claim there is a lot of new material in them at release that was not there in EA. I am curious to see them.

I am also waiting to see the first video of a Wild Sorcerer Fireballing themself when they encounter that first combat...

Mortismal finished his review copy and put up a first impressions review.

As for /baldursgate, they just made a separate subreddit for Baldur's Gate 3.
Actually, IIRC the BG3 was created without input from the original subreddit, and initially the BG subreddit allowed discussions on BG3's development.

Then news started to trickle in that the game wouldn't have RTWP, and they basically started going "This subreddit is only for Infinity Engine games, and the casuals who want to talk about BG3 can go to their own subreddit!!!". I guess they feared discussion about the new game would suffocate everything else in the subreddit's traffic, but by the gods, how many times can you discuss the best ultimate solo run dual-class options, or how this other guy completed his 42nd run?

There is still a flair for BG3 posts, actually, but it's hardly ever used. And maybe the mod stance on this softened, I dunno. But the average people who frequent the subreddit seem to think Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 are the only correct way of designing CRPGs (as well as the only correct incarnation of the Realms), and it honestly annoys me. Maybe more than it should.

I probably don't know enough about Reddit. I didn't think posters had any authority to make a decision like that.
