Bardic Knowledge without the.. uh.. Bard?

Just wondering if there are other ways to get the mechanical effect of "special knowledge check based of level" to learn something about anything.

There are Bards obviously,
There is the Loremaster, who gets the same ability

Any others? Anything with something close?

I always figured the Wizard class should have something similar. I mean, wizardry implies lots of book learning, right? I can't imagine someone reading tons of books and not picking up a bit of knowledge in various fields.

I think so, too, but it does make the Bard a bit more useful and unique. Wizards probably depend more on a high intelligence modifer (for extra skill points and the bonus to Knowledge skills) and buying a rank in each Knowledge, while bards have the jack-of-all-trades mentality going for them. Bards can thus focus on one or two important Knowledge skills and use Bardic Knowledge for everything else while putting the remaining skill points to better use (either Perform, the various roguish skills, or picking up new languages).

That's what we call a Loremaster.

There's also the Yakuza in OA.

Wizards already have a similar ability, called access to all knowledge skills. If they put only one rank into each, they end up with 1+INT+d20 for all knowledge skills ,and almost definitely better for Know-arcane and a couple of others. Not bad for ten skill points.

The Jack of all trades feat also does something similar, allowig rolls on all Knowledge skills without ranks.
