Hmmm...I'd consider some one of the best shows on TV period and defintitely the best Sci-Fi show on TV right now.

one thing keeps bothering me ... the Cylons seem to know what is going on all the time, why don't they just wipe out the humans and get it over with ... or are they trying to find earth too?

I thought the answer to this question was kind of obvious. The Cylons don't want to wipe out humanity. They are interested in herding them to some goal or destination. Look at the facts:

(1) The Cylons can get agents on board human ships. They've done it multiple times.
(2) The Cylons, by corollary, seem to know where the humans are on a regular basis.
(3) The Cylon ships are better than human ships, they can jump straight from Caprica to the Galatica's current location.
(4) The Helo-Boomer subplot makes clear that Six and her cohorts are driving Helo in a particular direction, and, if he doesn't take the path they have laid out for him, they will kill him.
(5) The Galactica seems to be being guided as well, given the location that various Cylons have appeared near it.

The Cylons are herding the humans. Apparently Galactica to Cobol (and my guess is Helo to the arrow of Apollo). They need the humans to do something. Perhaps breaking a cycle that has happened before (remember the cyclical nature of history everyone keeps talking about).

Think about this: if Cobol is the place where the humans and Gods lived in peace, who were the Gods? Think about the cyclical nature of history - this has all happened before. Now think who the humans might currently want to live in peace with.

Re: (5) - Boomer was the pilot who led the Galactica both to water and to Kobol. Now, who gave her the coordinates that she used to jump there? We don't know how much leeway she has in choosing her path (from a Galactic/command POV), so she could be doing this on her own, or someone in the command structure of Galactica above her could be feeding the coordinates to her. My bet is on her having the leeway to search within certain parameters, which allows her to choose where to go.

Just a week after getting a ringing endorsement from TV Guide, the new "Battlestar Galactica" has done it again ... this time in the coveted Time Magazine. The magazine named the SciFi Channel hit along with ABC's "Lost" as two of the six best dramas on television. Article provided by SyFy Portal.

Actually, I really enjoy the show as well. But I'm totally fine with someone else not liking it.

thanks for the breakdown SR ...

I'm a background junkie ... and I don't think BSG has given enough of it, ... which might be their plan to hook people in (it's working on me).

what I really liked about B5 is that it gave enough information to satisfy me (also it was on basic channels and I didn't miss about half the episodes ... which is killing me! ... I need to pay attention when the decide to run a BSG marathon and have mom tape them for me).
