It does my heart good to know that the esteemed E.G.G. reads both Nero Wolfe and Pratchett :)
Would that my Beloved wife would be so moved. When I urge her to be more Fritz-like she only scoffs, and furthermore refuses to alow me to wear a tricorn hat when she drags me out to some function :]

Heh,
Gary

If one does 20 ms. pages a day, one can complete a large novel in a month. I know, because I did an average of 15 pages a day without any trouble, because all the background ("bible") material was completed.

Pratchett doing two books a year is a nice, leisurely pace allowing a LOT of time for working on the difficult background material.
I have no experience writing professionally myself, so I can only compare with other writers - and the good Pterry is certainly one of the more prolific ones out there.

That "Dwarf" looks like it has pointy ears also. :D

precisely ergo its either a tall halfling (as I dont recall what halfling ears look like) or another bloody elf*!!!

*Unidentified sub-race, slightly rotund

Just incase anyone didn't know where the myth of the beardless female dwarf came from, check out page 13 of the 3.5 PHB. Then check out who publishes it.

I will always follow what ever the Col says, because his maps are to scale in his adventures. For this "my hat of monte know no end!"

Down with the beardless dwarf-et, and down with the 12.5’ wide hallway! ! !

Were she a halfling, she'd be at least a full head shorter. And have dark hair.
That's because she's a gnome, not a halfling. Still not a dwarf.

However, untill someone actualy finds a real dwarf female and proves she both is female and has a beard (I'm not asking for how), it's a mute point. It's fantasy, have fun.

I draw my dwarves with slightly pointed (and backswept ears) since Brom did a stellar work on Dark Sun. :)

As for the Gnome, he's waaay up there trying to cover himself from the waterfall. Were she a Gnome, she'd have a larger head, almond-shaped eyes, large (round) ears and still be at least a head shorter.
