D&D (2024) Best and Worst Classes Lvl 1-10.

Legend
So at levels people generally play at what do you think the top 4 and bottom 4 classes are 2024? The other ones are some where in the middle.

I'm not sure myself. I think I have 3/4.

Bard
Cleric
Sorcerer

Bottom 4 not sure but probably 2/4

Ranger
Rogue

None are bad if it was a tier list B to S for the most part. Rogue might be C maybe.

Druids probably the weakest primary caster, Warlocks really good heavily front loaded as well. Barbarians the best martial for brute damage but I'm thinking fighters more useful overall perhaps. Paladin traditionally I would put top 4 but it has been nerfed. Wizard takes to long to ramp up and it's power is more towards the higher levels imho so 1-10 it's outclassed by other casters.

Anyway I'm thinking it over and beyond the 5 listed above (just imho as well) what are your thoughts?

Very difficult.

I think at the levels we actually play...

Top 4:
Ranger
Warlock
Fighter

Bottom 4
Bard
Paladin

I think at very low level. The paladin does not have a lot of sustain (below level 6). Both, the ranger and the fighter have more of that.

Warlock with some low level invocations can really do nasty things. At will change self and silent image.

The bard before level 5 is very restrained to being a badly armored caster with limited spells. Both wizard and cleric just do more at lower levels.

Warlocks great low level. 4 or 5 origin feats level 2 can be a lot of spells.

Probably top 4 tbh.

Anyone else for Warlocks?

Point but other classes can also do that.

So where do you put them? Some 4 will be on the bottom.
Hard to say from 1-10. It's a big range. What's bad at 1 isn't neccicaraly bad at 10.

Rangers litterally have the most spells at level 1, while also having good AC and HP and skills. But are lagging by 10.
... So maybe in the middle?

If we count that levels 1-3 go by quicker than other ones, then ranger can be on the lower middle.

Bottom 4 is probably fighter, bard, druid, and sorcerer.

Fighter is just kind of a weaker Paladin, also weaker than Barbarians or Monks.

And casters just don't have the umph until they get more slots and higher spells. You end up spending too many turns shooting 1d10 firebolts. Probably moving up around level 7, when you can cast a slot spell per encounter, but that's still less than half the time.

Wizards being the strongest with all their low level rituals and extra slots. They will be overtaken by sorcerer's as they get more points to play with. But wizard's start stronger.

I thought you can cast a slot spell an encounter around level 3.

I woukd lean more towards sonething lije bless or whatever (magic initiate cleric).

If I'm a warlicklits of origin feats including all 3 initiate fests level 2 or so :).
Fighters fairly front loaded level 1 to 8 so I don't think they're bottom 4.

Hard thought experiment though. Finding best 4 not to hard I think. Bottom 4 though....

The Fighter seems to compare poorly with the Ranger and Barbarian unless you use Action Surge for an extra Attack action.

I'd really like to see how you come to that conclusion. Fighter is very front loaded, single atteibute dependent and has one extra feat at a level where it matters most.

So a fighter can easily have GWM, mage slayer, maybe HAM or PAM and great susatain due to second wind and legendary resistance light.

Which seems to be the most commom use.
Fighters are more versatile than barbarians in general. But admitted. Barbarians are great now.

I also think they can fill the spell less ranger niche.
