Hi
There are some seriously good series (heh) on TV right now. This thread is for voicing your opinion on what's best. There's no strict rules - you can mention more than one series, if you can't decide.
IMO the best series right now is HBO's The Wire. By a wide margin.
Just damn that series is good. Takes the tired genre of police series to a new level. Or really, it's not only about the cops. It's at the same time about police, politics, schools and the criminals (or, to make it sound more boring, about the institutions, be it the PD, a criminal organization, and what those institutions do to their members). The bad guys aren't put neatly in to jail at the end of each episode. Usually the polices' difficulties come from within the institution they work for, instead of from the criminals. The politicians and, following from that, the higher-ups in the police organization have foiled more investigations in the four seasons than the criminals themselves.
"Let's bust heads, the western district way"
Of course, the one downside is that it's pretty difficult follow just a single episode, because one season is one storyline (or multiple). Also, action happens also off-screen, so one needs to be alert. But it's very rewarding.
So, voice your opinion! What's good/best on TV?
