As Kira's arrow zips by Kronk, the two dogs again attack the dwarf, but their advance founders on his shield.

Nameelass strikes the dog with Kira's arrow in it; with a yelp the dog staggers, dead. Barton's mace strikes the remaining mongrel with a sound blow as well.

Kronk scowls as he again misses the dog. Kira's missile misses as the dog strikes at the dwarf's axe hand, biting down hard (3 damage). But Barton's mace strikes with a crushing blow, ending the battle. The glade falls silent.

The danger over you can now look around at your surroundings. The glade itself is circular and about 30 to 40 feet wide. Glancing around, you can spy three exits out of the glade: west the way in which you came; a path on the opposite end of the glade that enters the forest to the northeast; and a similar path that enters the Thornswild to the southeast. And due east, seemingly closer now, you can see the rock spire jutting up above the forest top.

From where you all stand you can see (and smell) the object of the dog's attention-the corpse of a white warhorse. Laying on its side in the center of the clearing, the steed still wears its torn chain barding, saddle and saddlebags, which are half under the horse's body.

From overhead, the suns warmth shines down upon you. From its position, you estimate that it is a little past midday.

DM stuff: Kronk has taken 4 hp damage total, Barton 2

Brother Barton, 4/6 hp

In the wake of crushing the last dog's skull, Barton lowers his weapon and takes a moment to breathe in the silent clearing. "Thus do we exert the will of the Morning Lord," he murmurs at last. Observing the bite wound in his own leg, and the more serious bites incurred by Kronk, the cleric adds, "Would that my faith was strong enough to implore my god for his healing light, Brother. But not yet. I must be further refined by his fire." Barton impassively takes his shaving knife and slices some neat strips of brown wool from the hem of his clerical robes. Then, he binds his leg wound tightly and says nothing more of it.

Turning to the dead warhorse, Barton muses, "Could this poor animal have belonged to the missing knight, Sir Galwaith? Brother Kronk, help me lift the beast that we might look within the saddlebags."

[sblock=ooc]Barton hopes to shift the weight of the dead horse (with his companions' help) to free the saddlebags. He would like to look inside for anything which might identify the former owner of the horse.[/sblock]

"Perhaps before Kronk lifts any horse to retrieve a saddlebag we should clean his wounds?" Kira suggests to Barton and then looks at Kronk. "Sit down, we're going to clean those wounds and make sure there'll be no infection."

With that said, she swiftly moves to check out Kronk's wounds, cleaning them from the dirt and dog slime and the other nasty things that can have come into the wounds.

As you decide a course of action, Brother Barton attends to his wound, as Kira cleans Kronk's.

[sblock=DM Note]Just a small bump for the weekend. Your actions in attending to wounds and the hygiene thereof cure the more superficial of your comrades injuries. Barton and Kronk both recover 1 hp[/sblock]
