We're playing an "Any Class or Race Outside the PHB" game, and I want to make a Binder cohort to accompany my Dread Necromancer (now at 12th). We currently have a melee'r-damage junkie (currently a Goliath Mineral Warrior Duskblade 11/Warblade 1 w/ Leap Attack, the usual nonsense), a favored soul, a Siryn Ninja (ranged combat), and a (custom) sorcerous-wild-mage type (blaster). Buffing doesn't really work for a Binder, so thats kind of out. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to overlap w/ any of the above character's roles too much. Crafting isn't completely out, but Binders don't really do that well (and I really, really want to use a Binder).
BTW, if you wanted to know the details of the mechanics I have to work with, I plan on using the Tenebrous Rebuking ability to get him at least HD worth of undead that I'll make (not sure what kind yet, probably shadows), and will also be taking Improved Binding to get Vestige access earlier, its a 30 Point Buy to make him/her, LA Buyoff is allowed, and it'll start at 10th level.
We may go epic w/ this group; its too early to tell, really.
