Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

ooc: about dinner time!

The group travels on in the last rays of light. As soon as the really starts disappearing you set up camp.

ooc: some questions regarding your campsite: will you light a fire? cook a meal? sleep on the ground?

Quarion looks up at the trees. "Can dwarves climb?" He asks in response to Mordik's question.
Mordik cracks a crooked smile, Can elves craft the earth? Aye, I'm an alright climber.

(ooc: +6 total mod for climbing)

"We should probably push on as long as we have light, at least," Eanos says by way of agreement. "But Odno's points are valid as concerns the night. I've tried fighting in the dark before; I don't recommend it. And such conditions will probably make spotting more passive threats--like that spear trap--more difficult."

I'd see traps just as well one way or the other. Still, I'd rather not fight with you not able to see.

Quarion elects to sleep in a tree, weaving branches and vines into a natural supporting frame. He will suggest that the others do the same, and he'll help whoever wants it in setting up their tree bed. "It is not the most plush bed in the world, but it is safe, and it brings us closer to the gods." Fire or no, Quarion uses his woodland skills to obtain dinner, assisted by whoever wants.

OOC: Er, Survival? They don't have to look pretty, it's just a way to sleep up in the trees without falling out. I, as a player, really have no idea how one might hold oneself up in a tree for a night, but Quarion the elven druid surely does. ; )

Quarion struggles to construct his treetop bed. After some time he manages to construct something of which he is sure he won't fall out during the night. He does, however take a painfull fall from the tree while building his bed.

ooc: you take 3 points for falling damage.

ooc: This is the second elf in a week I've seen falling from a tree. Considering what's going on at the general forums, it's quite amusing.

does the nigh pass without incident, then?

(OOC: Watch out for that--tree!)
So very close to an xp penalty..... Grats on your graduation btw! what did you graduate for?

Anyhow. we got the sleeping in the trees part covered. I assume that there will be no fire than? Seems rather pointless when you sleep in a tree. Will the watchmen(/woman) also reside in the trees?
