Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

"Speaking of wards" say Odno "Or magic in general, there are no absolute rules. Thus, we make theories based in our incomplete set of data, remembering to be humble enough to change them as more information becomes available. In situations like this, however, I would go with Mordik's wisdom and instead of expecting the simplest explanation I think we should expect the worst."

Odno holds his loaded crossbow in both hands expecting the other's signal to advance once everything is clear.

[sblock]It must be the case that monks can use ranged attacks with flurry of blows, or else the entry on shurikens (which specifically allows the monk to use his special combat options with them, and can only be used as thrown weapons) would make no sense.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Rules question: since a sai is a special monk weapon, can I use flurry if I'm throwing them, or does that only apply when I use them in melee? i.e. can I throw them both as a full round action with the standard flurry penalties to the attacks?[/sblock]

I see no reason why a ranged flurry shouldn't be possible with the ai. It is also possible with the shuriken, the sai has a range, indicating it is also a throwing weapon and flurry does not discriminate between the different monk weapons in any way.

Quarion, though he did not feel eyes on his back before, grows suddenly paranoid as the party draws weapons. He pulls his bow from around his chest and slides his tall quarterstaff into the leather loops on his back. Nocking an arrow, he looks around carefully.

[sblock=OOC: ]Spot and Listen, both +10, Search +3.

Aww, now I feel dumb. Everybody's got cold iron or silver or whatever, Quarion's got plain ol' arrows that do jack-diddly vs. fey and all those crazy magical nature creatures. =( And him with his +8 KN: Nature...[/sblock]

ooc: okey dokey!
The group nervously edges forward into the clearing. From the clearing you make out the remains of five buildings. Three of the buildings are almost totally ruined, with only one or two crumbled walls left. The other two are more intact. Although thier walls have many holes and the roof is gone, you can still walk somewhat trough them. The ruined houses used to be two room, single story buildings.
There is also a crumbled well on the edge of the clearing.

(OOC: Anything noticable in the two semi-intact buildings or just rubble and walls? If we don't see anything useful, we can always proceed to the well)

"Let's check the two buildings first, but the cliche is a dungeon at the bottom of the well."

(OOC: Any relevant Knowledges here, including Lore?)

Just ruble and walls. You do notice, however that the "road" that lead you to this place, continues on the other side of the clearing.
No knowledge or lore applicable.

(OOC: Well, if a brief search of the buildings turns up no clues that can be knowledged or lored, we'll check the well to see if it looks fishy. If not and if the road onward is the only path, then we continue)
