Buffy 11 Feb 03

They kept advertising it on the local UPN as Buffy with guest star Ashanti. Problem was I didn't know who Ashanti was. Heh. S'ok, I was going to watch anyway, they didn't have to draw me in with lame guest stars.

Now that Spike has a soul, it will be interesting to see how he reacts when he learns that one of his crimes is coming back to haunt him. I mean, considering that he has probably killed well over a 1,000 people in his 100+ year unlife, he seems to be bearing up rather well.

And now that Spike no longer has the chip holding him back, I wonder what will happen if Wood puts him into a ‘kill-or-be-killed’ situation.

My favorite line was when Giles explained that the Harbinger’s shoes squeaked. :p

So, apparently there is a neverending supply of ubervamps, all you have to do is bleed someone onto the seal and you get another one.

This just proves that villains aren't engineers.

The First tried the Bringer plan to kill the girls. It failed. So it hopped to a completely different plan, using the ubervamp. It failed. So it hopped to yet a third plan, trying to get Andrew to kill the girls. This also failed, and as an aside proved how desperate the First is becoming, because come on, Andrew couldn't kill pigs.

Had the first put its ubervamp plan through proper QA first, it would have succeeded. They would have said "Yes, the ubervamp is very much improved over the standard issue vamp, but he's still vulnerable in the neck area, have him wear this steel throat guard."

Then the plan wouldn't have crashed so fast in beta, when Buffy beheaded the plan. She probably still would have taken it though, so the engineer would have said "Hmm, maybe I'll send two of them, since one did ok by itself, two or three might win!"

But no. The First, being a non-engineer, did not attempt to debug its ubervamp plan, but scrapped it and changed gears entirely.

Obviously, an engineer could take over the world.

Huh? Last time I checked, vampires consider humans good eatin'. :p

No, he said they were after him personally because he killed a lot of vamps.

6 vampires ambushed him, just this one time (he'd never fought more than 1 before) because he killed vamp's previously.

They were probably a bit surprised that the slayer was there too...

Mind you, it's from HIS point of view that they were after HIM, but it still seems a silly scene. (and, also ties into the theory that no matter what foe, it will almost always take buffy 5 minutes to kill it. 1 vamp or 4, or whatever...)

Now, it'd have been better IMO if there had been one vamp, who proclaimed that he was coming for Wood, then got dusted. But, that's just me :-)

I hate to admit it, but you make a really good point. Maybe it's the bigger cast or maybe so many fresh faces around but the recent eps have lacked a little energy, but only in comparison to earlier seasons.

I'd read the spoilers for the last few shows before seeing them, and they really weren't very interesting anyway. The acting is a little tired, but I think it's as much the fact the SHOW has run out of energy.

I got tired of it, and was watching That 70's Show instead, but then it switched to Wednesdays (70's show) so I started watching Buffy again.

I gave up on Angel a while ago, and have caught an ep or two, but just can't get into it anymore. The whole Demon Overpopulation Problem has grown tedious for me I think. The only eps I had liked of Angel were when Spike was there.

"Quick, to the Angel Mobile!" summed up my feelings about the show. :-)

Wow. You guys are getting very jaded? I've only been watching about 10 weeks or so, and I love it.

"Bidet of Evil." hehe

I thought it was interesting how the First pointed out that most of Buffy's friends are murderers.

I figured the First was lying to Wood about Spike killing his mother. I didn't know Spike had killed a Slayer (or two?). So is Spike really all that badass? That demon rather manhandled him last night.

I really need a primer for Buffy. I don't have time to watch all 100 hours (?) of the previous seasons to catch up on everything.

http://www.buffyguide.com/ has episode summaries through season 5ish I think. FX network shows old episodes, usually two a day, in the evening and then rebroadcast the next morning, they're in mid-season 4 now I think. And the first three seasons of buffy are on DVD, they're swell. Angel season 1 is coming out some day soon, too.
