Yeah, Spike killed two slayers - one back in China during the Boxer Rebellion, and Principal Wood's (Supposed) Mom in the late 70's/early 80's in New York.

We learned this during an episode in which Buffy went to Spike to find out how he did it, so that she could learn from their mistakes. Spike told her about each one. In Spike's view, they lost because they wanted to die, and that Buffy's circle of friends kept her grounded in life and something to live for, and fight for.

Somehow I don't think Principal Wood would appreciate that opinion if Spike were to express it.

Wow. You guys are getting very jaded? I've only been watching about 10 weeks or so, and I love it.

Yeah Quas, after Season Three, nothing seems as good. :D

I'm a lot more forgiving than some here, and I've been quite enjoying the season, but Season Three (now available on DVD!) had just about the coolest line up of villains in history.

Check it out if you get the chance, and think about doing it before this season gets too far along...

Attacks: A Flash-Card monster retains all the attacks of the base creature, except those which originate from complicated visual attacks or which cannot be simply animated or drawn. A Beholder's eye rays would work, but a Fey creature's charm abilities would not.

Couldn't one illustrate a charm ability by replacing the target's eyes with hearts?

Being the girl-that-can't-get-a-life, I am enjoying the Buffy/Spike
thing. I liked how he told Buffy that he was fine with her going on a date with someone else, yet when the gang needed her, he jumped(several times in fact) at the chance to go get her. And a question to anyone who can answer: Has Buffy already told Spike that she loves him? Because in a past episode the girl named Cassie--Who is clairvoyant--said to Spike, "She'll tell you...One day...She'll tell you..."
Just a question to ease my curious mind.:p

No, he said they were after him personally because he killed a lot of vamps.

6 vampires ambushed him, just this one time (he'd never fought more than 1 before) because he killed vamp's previously.

They were probably a bit surprised that the slayer was there too...

Mind you, it's from HIS point of view that they were after HIM, but it still seems a silly scene. (and, also ties into the theory that no matter what foe, it will almost always take buffy 5 minutes to kill it. 1 vamp or 4, or whatever...)

Now, it'd have been better IMO if there had been one vamp, who proclaimed that he was coming for Wood, then got dusted. But, that's just me :-)
Yeah, I know that he said they were after him (or he thought they were) but it's not that unusual to have a gang of vampire attack Buffy or anyone else for that matter. I liked the ambiguity of the situation myself. ;)

I think that Ashanti did very well in her part last night. It's nice to see some non-genre celebrity guest faces every once in a while - to be honest, I can't recall one since John Ritter, or the actress who played Maggie Walsh. I still think Britney Spears would have done well as Warren's Robo-Girl. :)
Joel Grey played a demonic "doctor" in season 5 - first telling Dawn how she could raise her mother from the grave and later slashing her a few times with a knife in the season finale.

I really need a primer for Buffy. I don't have time to watch all 100 hours (?) of the previous seasons to catch up on everything.

We're not all jaded. Personally, I think the series is as fresh and entertaining as it's ever been and there hasn't been a season I haven't liked. In fact, I think the much maligned season 6 was one of the best they've ever done specifically because it was so dark and depressing. Not everything in life is all sunshine and roses, you know.

And if you have any specific questions, just ask. I'm sure some of us will be more than happy to help you along.

I must say that the last season (Not the current) was the worst season so far (Althought the worst episode of Buffy is still a great episode by any other standards). They were dark, and I liked that, but the feeling just wasn't there, the comedy and the intensity were a bit dull. Now with this season, they're doing just what the first said when it first appeared "Going back to the beginning".
Think about it, the fab four is back together, there's lotsa old-style jokes flying around, and they're facing a villain that's actually slightly cool. (The trio from last season just sucked, you have to admit.)

About this episode in particular, I liked it, I think it's the best in the last 2 seasons so far!
(Course then again I've been waiting for years for Spikes chip to come out so that might have me predisposed to liking it.. hehe)
Speaking of the chip coming out, you've gotta now what that means... Joss wouldn't take the chip out unless Spike's going to be hurting humans in the near future. He's got to be needing the chip out for a reason, I doubt Joss would take it out just to make that one ep.. He could've had the old chip fixed (But then again it gave Buffy a nice little moral dilema).

originally posted by QuasquetonI thought it was interesting how the First pointed out that most of Buffy's friends are murderers.

True.. Giles, Anya, Spike, Buffy, Willow, and Andrew have all killed at least 1 human..
Hell, Dawn and Xander are the only ones there who HAVEN'T killed any non-demonic beings as far as I know.. Which ties nicely into their little niche that they got going as the only two 'normal' people on the show, always getting overlooked, etc. (I can't remember which episode it is where Xander talks to Dawn about never being in the spotlight, always beside it, etc, but I liked that little heart-to-heart.)

One of them summoned the song-and-dance demon and got a bunch of people burnt to death in "Once more, with feeling." But I never was completely clear on which one is the happy-go-lucky killer in this case.
