One of them summoned the song-and-dance demon and got a bunch of people burnt to death in "Once more, with feeling." But I never was completely clear on which one is the happy-go-lucky killer in this case.

That would be Xander. He summoned Sweet (the demon in question) because he thought a little spontaneous singing and dancing would be fun and cheer everybody up (he didn't know about the people bursting into flames part). Sweet thought Dawn had summoned him because she was wearing his talisman after having stolen it off the counter at the magic store.

I remember Xander confessing to it, but for some reason I had the impression that maybe he was covering for Dawn. She'd been in so much trouble lately, and Xander's always been sympathetic to her, and I thought that maybe he was trying to keep her from getting in even more trouble.

But I don't remember why, exactly, I thought that; maybe I was smoking crack.

That was what I thought, too. His confession was kind of lacking in detail "I thought there'd be singnig and dancing". Hell, anybody coulda said that.

It never did show how he got summoned or anything, though, or even explain it other than "Dawn did it.." Xander: "No, it was me.. yeah, that's it."

And either way, Neither of them have killed any humans yet, b/c accidentally summoning a demon that does it doesn't count... I think... does it? NO, we'll say that it doesn't. Yeah, sure, OK lets go with that. Go away, bad demon, I never wanted you here in the first place. HAHA I am the mighty de-demonizer.. uh Un-demonizer.. A big honking can of Demon-b-gone.

Well, the big clue that it wasn't Dawn is supposed to be the fact that she very obviously finds the talisman in The Magic Box AFTER all the singing, dancing and combusting has begun and, being in the midst of her klepto phase, she pockets it after making sure that nobody sees her pick it up.

Bloody Hell!!

I'm quite ticked that I missed this week's episode... right after you see the flashback where Giles killes the Harbringer, my parents' cable make UPN go POOF! Tried to call too, but no one answered. GRRRR!

HMMM>..

Slightly OT, but I was just watching a season 2 episode of Buffy (The one where angel goes bad and starts terrorizing them, and then Buffy blows up the Judge), and I just saw the quote from Angel to Spike "To kill this girl you've gotta love her"
Foreshadowing anyone? If this IS the last season, they may be killing her off, and who better to do it than either Spike or Angel?

Any other foreshadowing ideas people have?

I don't think this is the last season for either show. That would leave us with no Joss Whedon shows at all. He expressed interested before this TV season started that even if SMG didn't come back that he wanted the show to continue. And I know he didn't plan on ending Angel after this season. Considering the treatment Firefly was given, I'm sure Joss is itching to prove that he's still got it. :)

I figured the First was lying to Wood about Spike killing his mother. I didn't know Spike had killed a Slayer (or two?). So is Spike really all that badass? That demon rather manhandled him last night.

In the past, Spike has fought Buffy in hugely drawn-out scenes that end by buffy winning in very lucky ways (managing to throw him down a well, into a support beam of a wall that collapsed on him, etc.).

He was almost as good as she is. Up until now, he could handle pretty much anything taht was thrown at him (not counting major bad uniques like Glory, Adam, UberVamp, etc) He is supposedly rather well-known in the demon world, referred to by lurky as a "legendary dark warrior." He is the only vampire to have killed two slayers.

Why did he suck vs Ashanti!Demon?

In an episiode soon (either the next one or the one after that), spoilers indicate that Buffy will chew Spike out for holding back. In trying to be good, he has been supressing his killer instinct too much, and it has weakened him. Note how he doesnt go into vampface until he absolutely has to (when he is being strangled, which DOES work on Vamps, beucase they need blood flow...spike did it to dru once)

True, although lack of air does nothing, lack of blood-flow does knock them unconscoius (Much like a solid THUNK to the head), and could conceivably deal brain damage.. But we'll leave that particular barrel of fish unshot.

For now, as to Spike's bad-assedness, yeah he's probably one of the best fighters around.. He's just extremely unlucky. He always seems to be the one who takes the big hit when a powerful baddy attacks. (Common fight scense usually include buffy+Spike rushing a monster, the monster knocks spike back, and while the monsters occupied, Buffy gets into range... Think of it like a D&D Attack of Opportunity, which allways happens on Spike instead of Buffy).

I think back to the first Spike V Buffy match.. If it hadn't been for Joyce and her Shovel, Spike would have 3 slayers under his belt, and Kendra would've been called half a year sooner.

*For those of you who haven't seen that Ep, this is a bit of a spoiler but seeing as how it happened 5 years ago I'm not doing the half-page Warning space for you.

Buffy and spike are kicking each others butts, eventually Spike gets the Slayer on the ground, helpless, and is on top of her, about to bite her when all of a sudden *CLANG* Joyce smacks him in the head with a shovel shouting at him "Leave my daughter alone", and causing him to stagger away.

I think Spike MUST be holding back, b/c lately XANDER has been doing better in fights than Spike has.. Ever since he got chipped he hasn't quite been the same (OK, when he first found out he could hit buffy that fight scene was pretty awesome, especially how it ended... :D )

And to John Chricton - I know I speak for everyone here (And If I don't speak for you, don't bother telling me as I like beleiving in my own omniscience.. hehe) when I say "PLEASE GOD LET THAT BE TRUE!"

I don't know what they'd do without Buffy (Although some of those potentials seem to be fairly good actors, and MAY be able to take over...), but I'ld be partial to a show called "Spike" :D
Or more appropriately, maybe they'd just start a new series called "Sunnydale"?
So many concepts they could work with, but I just don't know if it'd work without the originals... It got a bit weird when Giles left, and only now that he's back is it feeling like the right show again...
OH well, as long as we keep ONE of the shows I'll be (slightly) satisfied.

Pls don't go, Scoobies!

OK, that's my rant.
