I'm just in the process of changing jobs, and am working one day a week in the new one while (almost) full-time in the old. It makes for some interesting moments.

However, things seem to have settled down a little (famous last words!)

Karl whirls at the sound of the goblin's arrival Grotz's subsequant attack. With nary a pause to try and figure out why he didn't get an initiative roll, he draws his blade and moves to try and catch the fleeing goblin before it can alert it's comrades.

"Catch him."

Karl didn't make his Listen check and was Surprised thus didn't get an action on the Surprise round. Lemme know if I have the wrong of that.

Yeah, I intentionally didn't post during the surprise round. But I figured I'd get an action in the new round at least.

Edit: followed by a low-in-the-order init score. Karl really was entranced by that door. Oh well.

He was totally entranced. The door had a Leomund's Trap on it. The real "trap" was the four goblins who heard you guys earlier and figured to catch you unawares while Karl was working on "disarming" a fake trap at the door. Worked for 'em in the past against the kobolds, no reason why it shouldn't work for 'em again now. Save for one very fierce dog and a rather nasty half-orc killing machine. I guess adventurers aren't kobolds. Poor, poor goblins. They're about to have a very bad day.

Which goblins had short swords? Kaeleen wishes to grab the nearest short sword and give the dagger back to Elyan.

All four goblins had short swords and saps. Goblin 1 dropped its sap back by Meepo, though.
