character concept

First Post
Hey, I'm working on a character for a forgotten realms game, and I think I want to make a dual wielding dagger fighter. I think I will just go with fighter so I can gain all the feats, and human. We are starting at 5th level and pretty much anything within those limits such as LA works with the DM. I kind of like the idea of making a character based on "V" from "V for Vendetta".

The DM is going point buy 30 points with each stat starting at 10, any hints or tips for getting the most out of this character would be appreciated.

You may want to look into some levels of swashbuckler for finese feat and other abilities that are appropriate for a quick light weapon style fighter, while still keeping full BAB, and having the option to put more into dex (and being less str focused).

Note: you can't do it full justice on a 30 point buy, since the guy was an awesome combatant *and* a genius. I am giving up the genius part and assuming that he will wear armor (chain shirt, so he can tumble).

Initial Abilities: Str:18 Dex:16 Con:16 Int:10 Wis:10 Chr: 10
(increase dex at 4th, to get improved two-weapon fighting at 6th)

Skills: Jump, Tumble (cc), Climb. Max out.

Feats

1. Two-Weapon Fighting
1. Weapon Focus (dagger)
1. Quickdraw
2. Point-Blank Shot
3. Rapid Shot
4. Weapon Specialization (dagger)

Now you can throw or stab with your daggers. In fact, you can throw 3/rd, which is nice. Have a lot on hand.

Hey there,

Consider using two kukris instead of daggers as you'll have a higher crit chance (18-20). This will help seeing as you'll only be doing 1d4+str on your attacks.

Two weapon fighting and two weapon defense are a must. Since you are playing in FR, take a look at the Twin-Sword Feat which grants another armor bonus when using your two weapons (im not sure if it applies to kukris but maybe your DM will allow it). Using this feat does require you to come from Sembia, the Underdark or Waterdeep (I think).

While the duelist seems like a really good PrC to go into, in order to get the most out of the class, you'll only be able to use one of your daggers. The precise strike ability (+1d6 damage) requires that you have one weapon and one free hand. Of course you could just take a level in rogue and ignore the precise strike.

In fact, why not go fighter/rogue so that you can invest heavily in tumble, move silently, hide etc and gain some sneak attack damage to help offset the d4s from the daggers/kukri?

Some suggestions.

Btw think about picking up some rogue levels, sneak attack damage will offset your 1d4 weapon damage nicely, and you can get ready to go into the invisible blade class.

You're in the realms?

First off, look at the Knifefighter regional feat. Lets you use a light weapon in a grapple with no penalty, you don't need to win a grapple check to draw a light weapon in a grapple (though it's still a move action), and once your BAB is above +6, you can make a full attack with said same.

Then pick up Improved Unarmed Strike and Improved Grapple. That covers your melee. You move in close, grapple with the enemy, and stab the bejesus out of them while they're unable to use their weapons. Add whatever other standard melee feats you like for flavor. Later on, look at the Reaping Mauler and Invisible Blade PrCs.

Also give some thought to picking up some ranged feats for when you want to throw your daggers.

A strong guy with full BAB and a few grapple related feats can be quite nasty. Toss in a big knife, maybe use the Thug fighter variant from UA (only light armor prof, but more skill points), and you're well on your way to being the next Brock Sampson.

Along the lines of the above, you could do a straight fighter and a martial rogue variant (from Unearthed Arcana.) The martial rogue gives up sneak attack damage, but gains the fighter bonus feats.

3 levels of fighter and 2 levels of martial rogue and you'll have a boat load of feats to hone your 2 dagger fighter concept as well as evasion.

Thanks,
