I find it interesting that Union got (rightly) voted out immediately, but Sigil which has most of the same flaw plus really annoying badly faked cockney makes it to the final round.

It all comes down to how it was presented. I don't think people buy the 20+ level maid or bartender or street sweeper of Union.

From my POV...Sigil never made that an issue. Everyone is mixed together. Sigil's easier to understand because of capitalist democracies where the powerful are mixed in with the not so powerful. It is easier to accept the melting pot of Sigil than the all elite Union.

But they seem to Swallow the 25th level Succubus rogue maids and 30th level Beholder Wizard Dungsweepers of Sigil and ask for seconds.

Greyhawk city ... is ... vanilla

Here's one point upon which I can agree.

Vanilla is the most popular flavor in the world. Because of this people lose alot of perspective when it comes to vanilla. Vanilla is an exotic spice. The preparation of the beans for our consumption is an intricate process. Vanilla fits easily in ice cream and baking. A master chef can add vanilla's subtle undertones to his most prized dishes, using it in unexpected ways to bring about flavors most people have never experienced.

I have DMed in the World and City of Greyhawk for well over 20 years of enjoyable gaming. A city such as Sigil has a place in my campaigns as a place to visit for an adventure, a story arc, maybe even one whole campaign. But nothing will endure like GH. Those of you against GH cite the lack of support material. I agree GH is woefully undersupported currently. Most GH fans feel like WoTC in their attempt to snub EGG also snubbed the fans. But we take pride that the world of Greyahwk is now ours to continue the story in without some chowderhead messing it up. That's our story and we're sticking to it.

Except there's no such thing in Sigil. The City of Doors is much more story-driven than stat-driven; it's who and what you know that makes you powerful, not levels or feat chains. The 2E version of Planescape had barely any stats at all, and that's part of its charm to many fans.

Ah. So the reason you're complaining about Sigil and Union having the same flaws is because you apparently don't actually know anything about Sigil.

And I'm not really a big-time Planescape fan or anything. But even I know that your characterization of it is completely inaccurate.

In what way did WotC ever try to snub EGG? If anything they made a very conscious and gracious effort to reach out to him even though by all accounts he was no longer very relevent to the industry and hadn't been for a long time. TSR snubbed him; yeah, I'll buy that. But WotC?
