conversions of gods

bingo! i forgot about Faiths and Avatars (now that was a revolutionary book in a lot of people's eyes). but the humanoid gods appeared in book 3 of that particular "series", Demihuman Deites.

Another really nice reference source should be the Planescape book, On Hallowed Ground (think that's what it was called), if for no other reason than the HUGE gods index in the back of it.

i probably won't be able to start to much work on this until next week, as i expect to be gone just about all weekend, and all of these books are at home. :) but i can get a start at least!

any other monster god sources? even minor ones, but as long as it has some juicy info bits? any gods not listed above that i should be looking at/thinking about?

speaking of forgotten realms, i know there were some extra dwarf gods in the book Dwarves Deep, and a whole different set of dragon gods in Draconomicon.

and i just recalled that there was a small Neogi pantheon in a back issue of Dragon mag...

I'd like to see the kobolds' Kurtulmak after you convert the goblin god. I haven't found any official 3e conversion yet, though there could be one out there.

(Trivia: "ucuz kurtulmak" is a Turkish phrase for "escape" or "get off without price or penalty", or more cynically, "weasel out" )

interesting trivia. :)

if you read above, you'll see that kurtulmak is already in the new DDG. :) a lot of people think it was weird that the kobold deity was in the book, but the goblin was not (although i'm sure Meepo is just fine with that!) ;)

The dragon deities in the draconomicon is mostly alternate names for the standard draconic deities, although there are a few new ones as well. Here's a run down of some of the alternate names for the regualr draconic deities.

Xymor = Bahamut
Tiamat = Tiamat
Null = Falazure and Chronepsis.
Io = Io

Can't really remember the rest, alhtough I think there was one for draconic greed...

from the others Keska Wonderbringer stands out as a draconic deity of magic, although Keska might be an alternate form of Bahamut.

Also I think some of the non-standard deities are covered in Faiths and Pantheons. But alas.

Later,

Kurt and Mag

Yeah, Maglubiyet would be great. :)

I figure Kurtulmak was probably included in DDG because of his relationship with Garl Glittergold, eh? Can't think of any other reason...

speaking of forgotten realms, i know there were gods in Drow of the Underdark, but were there any new gods in Giantcraft?

this is the template (taken from DDG) that i'm planning on using to stat all the gods we will do... (let me know if i'm missing something)

Boz: I think it's 20 outsider HD plus class levels, but only for gods that are not ascendant mortals, undead or dragons. As the ascendant mortals normally only have class HD, and both Undead and Dragons get d12's for HD.

Also deities should have access to epic feats.
Additionally all deities have the following resistances: Fire resistance 20+divine rank (this can be increased by salient abilities.)
SR: 32 +divine rank (this again can be increased dueto salient abilities, racial abilities, and other things.)

Also, not all deities have a DR of 10 or more. ;)

So where should we post our own 'new' deities? I'm working on a former abomination (ELH) turned lesser deity of shadows and secrets. He has a divine rank of 6. :D

well, you can do that at any point (homebrews forum, please) and discuss amongst yourselves, but at this point i'm not ready to help much, as i'm still familiarizing myself with the DDG and ELH rules. later today i will post what i have worked up so far on the dragon gods, again in the homebrews forum. :)

OK, I’m on “vacation” now, but that doesn’t mean I’m doing nothing. ;) just want to generate some ideas for future projects. This conversion of gods will be an ongoing process. I’m not sure what the level of interest is, as I’ve had little replies recently. But I do thank those who have participated in helping me (mostly Krishnath, thanks bud) as I would have given up with no help. ;) for those who are still interested, or those who become interested in the future, let me know what you’d most like to see done here. I’ve got a list of all the nonhuman gods I could come up with, with the help of others. Tell me what from here you’d like to see most, and we’ll try to get to it in time. If you can think of an “official” god that’s not on this list, suggest it now and tell me what source it’s from! Thanks! :)
