In a series, eh?

Hmmm, probably Toshiro Mifune's Sanjuro Kuwabatake from Sanjuro & Yojimbo. Eastwood caught up with the act. ;)

Although on a single level, I have to go with Errol Flynn as Robin Hood.

And does Antonio Banderas' verision of Zorro count yet, since the sequel is in the works? We is the coolest Zorro goin'.

Nice, Sanjuro is definitely cool. I've heard of Errol Flynn but never actual watched on of his flicks.

Not sure about Banderas as Zorro (although he did a decent job there), but I defineately would consider his role as "El Mariachi" in the 3 movies as a qualifier. In fact, I really wish I had added that character in retrospect.

Tough choice between Indy, Ash, and Han...but had to go with Indy. Of course, at the same time, where's Darth Vader? :)

I went with Han ... for some reason The Empire Strikes Back is sticking in my head :)

Yeah, put me down for Sanjuro as well. I was going to add him when I first read the list of choices, but a couple of people already beat me to it.

By the way, besides Yojimbo and Sanjuro, he also appears in Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo, a movie in a long line of "Zatoichi" movies starring a blind yakuza masseur (and no, I'm not kidding). I just got all three of those movies (plus Zatoichi's Conspiracy, The Hidden Fortress, and Seven Samurai) on DVD for Christmas.

I chose the Bride. She ranks as one of the greatest action movie heroes ever, because unlike most action movie heroes, she has feelings other than "rage" and "more rage." I like action movies, but they're typically pretty two-dimensional. Kill Bill is not (even though the story boils down to a very simple one), and the story really is all about her, so I choose not to separate the character from her story.

That said, Ash is my #2 choice. I never said two-dimensional is a bad thing!

...can't pick just one... wait, I can...

Richard Blaine, Casablanca. You just can't beat Rick. Unless you're cancer.

I'd also like second Sanjuro, Zatoichi, Jack Burton, and Nick Charles.

And add to the list of runners up: Mark Renton (Trainspotting), Royal Tenenbaum (The Royal Tenenbaums), and Douglass Roberts (Mr. Roberts)...
