Psion
Adventurer
At first I didn't like the Ardent. It seem to me a reshash of "psionics in divine drag" that we saw in the spirituel in Hyperconscious. Bleh.
But there's another conceptual hangup I have. I think the idea of a deity-less cleric is nonsensical. None of this "my philosophy empowers me" thing. I tell players who take that tack that psionics draw power from intense personal conviction, not clerics.
But not it occurs to me, that Ardents fill this role nicely. They have psionic ability, and their flavor explicitly links their power to their philosophy. And now players seeking to play "empowered philosophers" don't have an excuse to play clerics IMC.
