Cryptosnark ripped me off

A tangential aside: Scott Lynch has sold his first novel--"The Lies of Locke Lemora"--and now has a contract for three more novels. He's as good as gone from RPG development.

Can you ask him to pull his CD offer down so people will quit ordering it?

Scott Lynch was always great with customer support - until he disappeared. I'm really glad for him about the novels, though

I own PDF's from Phil and from EN Publishing. I think they are all good content, though they don't necessarily always fit your needs. That's why you buy the ones you need. ;) PDFs are great. Not that print books aren't good, but PDFs have a lot of flexibility. I keep a CD with all my PDFs that I can carry with me even when I don't have a laptop available. It makes it a bit easier to do game prep even when I am on the road.

I'm guessing the publisher was smart enough not to give him cash in advance.

Scott really needs to take care of the loose ends he left with his RPG endeavours before anything he writes will make a dime from me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! All of you who've reached out to us abandoned buyers of many pdfs of CD-rom (Aside: I like the idea of us being known as "Scott's loose ends," after to Krieg's turn of phrase above) are lovely, lovely people worthy of many thanks and many pdf purchases.

I would just like to say that Phil, Morrus, and all the others offering compensation here are some pretty good people. Not everyone would offer to make up for someone elses mistakes. The generosity shown here shows that good customer service is not dead. It's just one reason I have a lot of Ronin Arts stuff. Well, that and the coolness factor of many of them.

I just want to echo this sentiment.

I too lost money on the Cryptosnark CD deal. I ordered it last December, and after a couple of rounds of false promises (via e-mails and postings on the DNW Yahoo group, some of which I repeated here on EN World in the hopes they were true), I came to realize I would never see that money again. So, watching other publishers offering to make up for Cryptosnark's problems is really amazing to me. You guys are class acts all around.

I'm not completely sure I should take anyone up on the generous offer; after all, my long list of RPG Now receipts proves that I'm in NO danger of being put off of buying PDFs. Still, it's really tempting...

EDIT: Oops. Just realized I'm about a week too late in seeing this thread anyway. So much the better. Now I don't have to be tempted! :)

What amazes me is less than a dozen people contacted me for the free PDF.
